packets for delivery on satday

Has any one heared that under the uso agreement royal mail only have to deliver first class packets on a satday .As under the uso agreement it only covers all letters and first class packets on satday as its not a national working day,

so all drivers have a merry xmasss from post commmm

The Universal Service

Royal Mail is subject to a Universal Service Obligation (USO) the key requirements of which are to:

 Deliver letters and parcels up to 20kg to all addresses (bar certain limited exceptions as specified by Postcomm) at least once a day.

 Collect mail at least once a day from each ‘access point’.

Royal Mail's licence requires it to provide universal postal services.

Royal Mail's licence requires it to make at least one delivery of postal packets every working day. However, under legislation in the form of the Postal Services Act 2000 the definition of working day means that only letters have to be delivered on Saturdays - there is no obligation on Royal Mail to deliver other items on Saturdays.

In addition, Royal Mail is required to deliver universal service items every working day. However, not all items are sent using universal services e.g. whereas a standard packet sent using normal 1st class post is in the universal service, Packetpost items are not in the universal service. Therefore, the delivery of a packet depends on which Royal Mail product has been purchased to send the item.

If it's 1st class it's letter rate and therfore would have to be delivered if not i'd say they are in breach of the licence and u.s.o anyway if they accept a packet at first class they must deliver it next day otherwise it could be classed as fraud if they were delayed on a regular bassis ?????

email post comm then ask what they think cos thats what they sent a customer
