Insurance on business use of own car

Hi,

I know this debate has probably been talked about on here but should the DOM in our office be asking us to bring in documents to prove that we are allowed to use our own cars on delivery? There is no way on gods earth that I would ever use my own car(I can't drive anyway) but why are we using our own cars for delivery? Those who choose to do so should they have to bring insurance details in? I cannot see why we do use there own cars at all and it really annoys me that they do but just wondered if business insurance is viable as it isn't our business is it?

The DOM is duty bound to check your documents to make sure you have the correct insurance cover if you are using your own car for delivery work,you are not in any way duty bound to use your car for RM's delivery's,in my honest opinion i do not believe any member of staff should be using their own car for this but if you are going to make sure you have the right insurance because there have been many problems to this,accidents,theft of mail from cars,cars having faults that are MOT problems even down to cars being towed by the police.

You shouldn't be using your own car anyway

No more job and finish then no need to rush around for RM's benefit

I agree though no one should be using there car on delivery

Yes. In our office you have to bring in an up to date MOT cert, Insurance and registration for the car. People have been stopped from using their cars because they didn't (couldn't?

) produce the documents.

I use my car but only to get to my start point.

And using your car in only getting to your start point, how many delivery pouches do you convey in your private vehicle?
