COURIER MAIL VOLUMES POLL

Post by Sandyman »

On reading this thread, i opened the Courier for the first time in months. Out fell a leaflet about "Work-Life balance". The contents were hysterical!!

2 pieces of it's advice...

"Talk to someone - if you're feeling stressed, talk to your line manager" It's usually the actions of a line manager that cause stress in the first place.

"Work is not the enemy - there's a huge difference between busy and being stressed" which contradicts an earlier claim in this leaflet "sleep and diet are often the first casualties when work becomes too much.

What utter nonesense. What they are saying is it's not management or the job that's at fault for you feeling stressed, it's you. The old "The postman is always to blame, never management" creed.

It will be many months beofre I open up that Stalinist propagandist rag again.

Stalinist thats for too close to socialism for that rag. Thatcherite is probably a better tag.

Lets mention this to as many people as we can. Would be interesting to know whether the courier would print the true result in a few weeks time. Personally i guess no. As a rough guess i would say 80% say Volume of mail is falling NO and 20% say Volume of mail is falling YES

You know that RM would twist it just to suit themselves ie. 150,000 posties and only 20,000 say the mail volumes are not falling :mad

I doubt very much The Courier would print the true result, who remembers the question that they asked a few months ago, "Is flexibility working in your office" I waited a month, could hardly sleep in anticipation :dance opened my Courier to the correct page, and then it hit me, "sorry we don't have any results for last months poll, not enough people replied"

Yeah right :whistle

Like Sandyman , I saw the work-life balance leaflet and thought somebody is not in the real world  they must be having a giggle when they put that in.
The only way to enforce my work life balance is to say "NO" to any jobs I do not want to do that take me beyond my contracted hours or intrude into my break time.
