WORKING HOURS ?

Hi do'es anyone know what the official start and finish times are under geo-route most in our office are on a 6.15 start but we have no idea what the finish time is the rep is as bad as the dom same old answer you have to be flexible but for how long ? any help on this please

All start time are different over the country depends upon how far the mail center is and which order the processing is done!. Just don't start before you contracted hour's and finish at your contracted time or get paid overtime for it!.

fulltime 40hrs should we not have it in writing the official start and finish times.

I have been messed about like you, Turn in at the 6.15 as was told to you and all back each other up on the time you start your finish time would be on an eight hour day 14.15. Really the start time should be where you sign on surely the fire regulation's should set this out.

you have been missled you do not have to be flexible. If you are unable due to commitments outside of the times you signed for then you are unable.
The Pay and Modernisation agreement is clear that you can't refuse a reasonable request, although it could possibly read shouldn't refuse. Therefore if the request being made of you clashes with your private life then the request from your point of view is an unreasonable one. The agreement does not specify who has the point of view that defines reasonable, if we are being asked to accept that the business is making a request in good faith then the business must also accept that the refusal is being made with good reason.
If the business wishes to put forward a reason for their request (i.e. lorry stuck in heavy traffic for 30 mins) then this choice is ultimately theirs. The P and M agreement does not demand or force you to reply in kind.

The Walk Log (or 318 which it replaced) should have the official start and finish times for each walk. The cover people would normally have to stick to these timing unless it force them to go over their contracted hours.

It should show start and finish times denoting what discipline you are to carry out at each given moment including meal breaks, conveyance and delivery time, you can forget the flexibility on a daily basis, that should be agreed at the weekly resourcing meeting with your union rep if the hours of work are to be varied. Should an emergency arise such as a late lorry, traffic accident, power cut et al you can be asked to work extra but you are under no obligation to do so, should you decide to work an extra 30 minutes you have to be given it back the same week.

I work in a DO,full time 40 Hours. I never do any OT. Every WTLies we have we are constantly told we must work our 40 hours. I always say no problem less my meal break (40 mins) Monday to Friday (day off Say) = 36 hours 50 mins. Start time 06.15 to 14.15. Asst Dim always says no we must include our meal breaks in the 40 hours. Don,t trust them one bit. Am I right

Simple answer is none!!!!!!!!!!

Pay and modernasation aggrement from last year states start times will normally be between 0600 and 0630

Pegasus/geo route creates deliver routes not duty structures thats the work of the planner/DOM/CWU rep*

* subject to a agrement being in place on geo route/pegasus

I think you'll find that RM just use these agreement to suit themselves, that's why they use the words 'normally' and 'usually'

Oh i see. But when i asked abouth geo/pegasus i was told no. But if RM advocate 6.00 and 6.30 starts surely it's across the board????

CWU originally wanted start times to be based on the reality of mail arrivals in delivery offices, but gave in to the 6am to 6.30 am start times. We should have stood our ground on that as basing start times onmail arrivals into D.O'S makes perfect sense.

Im my office people come in early, which proves that a earlier time that 6am to start is viable and shows why we (CWU) should have stuck to our guns! Walksorted mail is on hand by 0530 am and having a duty structure for IPS duties that is prep the walksort for the first 30 mins of duty then do IPS. Alternativley if the IPS bods ran out of work they could have done their walk sort untill the next van arrives.
