Who will not be doing Christmas overtime?

My Manager has been a total donkey all year. Being rude, arrogant and in no way understanding or helpful in any matter I have approached him with. So when he comes a crawling expecting me to do OT this Christmas the answer will be a BIG FAT NO.

So will you being doing OT this Christmas?

My manager ain't a bad chap,but the company have tried to rip us off all year so sorry,no goodwill cheap labour from me in your hour of need,unless of course you decide to give me back the five years of my life you knicked with the stroke of a pen,and give me a pay rise so I'm at least not poorer than I was last year,and...forget it stick your OT

We had a decent line manager for a few months who I would've considered working over for, but now we have a total numpty who thinks he can bully people into doing O/T, with his strings pulled by the DUM. I'm fully expecting a dispute with him come 8th December. Best get the CWU rep booked in

DOM has been appalling this year and deserves no help.

Will be interesting to compare notes on here what stunts the gaffers try on with non-volunteers & refuseniks.

The DOM is a complete arse and if I'm being really honest - I wouldn't pee on him if he was a urinal

I only wish everyone on my office would do the same but alas many of them still haven't learned but time will make them wise.

Yes

22.5 hour contract isnt enough. In fact doing 12 hours tommorow. I understand if people choose not to but
struggling a little ( a lot

) at the moment and the family will not suffer if i can put some more effort in. Come September next year the mrs will be earning and I can relax

I won't be doing much overtime this Xmas but if I was on a 22.5 hour contract I would jump at the chance to do any. With food prices and utility bills along with just about anything you can think of shooting through the roof it's hard enough surviving on full time hours. Trouble I have is the attitude you get off of most DOM's when claiming overtime throughout the year and then they are begging you to do it at Xmas. How :lfo and :cfo can look any of us in the eye after having filled this company with part timers who are struggling to survive on the wage they earn while they are raking it in makes me sick.

For the first time ever our office are turning down the 13.5 hours sa pressure overtime this year on mass,out of 100 walkers,only about 10 volunteered

Our new trouble shooting DOM,bought in to sort us out six months ago is now walking about like a dead man walking,his reputation in tatters

I have opted out of our area deal(15 hours S/A)but might work one of my rest days(we do a 4 day week)to get some extra dosh.My reason for opting out is we are a 10 day and that is long enough for me and a few others at our place.

There's a few notices on the wall at our our place,for the various bits of OT,Night Shift,Pkts any other OT,etc and a list for those who are not doing any,needless to say that list has the most names on it.
Cant say Im surprised,it's going to be very interesting this year.

1 hour prep tim on SA rate before start of duty is on offer at our office. People are for more likely to want to do a hours OT before there duty than at the end of it.

That's the same in my office. Most of the guys are willing to do that. I, however am not doing any o/t at all. Like many all my goodwill has been kicked out of me and RM have yet to convince me that their 'we're really good guys' is true. If RM can spin the wording on every single agreement to force in their changes, then I will follow Adam Crozier's desire to "only work the hours we pay them", and only work the hours they pay me. I have to say that despite the increase (sorry decrease) in mail volumes the past 18 months have been relatively stress free, what with doing the job according to RM's own guidelines, I start and finish on time, take my break, etc etc. Perhaps if I gave a t*** any more it might be different, but what goes around, comes around.

managers have been asking me for ages what im doing.
did tons of hours last year.
havent agreed to anything and told them i'll decide as i go depending on how shitty they make things

i for one will be doing no overtime this year, because i'm pissed of with all the changes without agreements with the union.
after xmas is when the sh-t will hit the fan with 4 hour plus deliveries,later starts and later saturdays so why should i sell my soul for a couple of hours at xmas.

We suggested this to our Dom

but hes not having it

he has said that its not manageable,with some doing pressure and some not he wont know whos doing what and at what time

I dont think it will be that difficult for him.

it's a shame that the majority of posties don't have the balls to stand up to RM because only too late will they see what is happening and that they run around for a few pounds and get screwed just like the rest of us
