When should dead letters be killed off?
Before you go out on delivery, when you come back, or if you go over your time, the next day?
Is it true that you can be done with wilful delay by not doing the deads on the day.
Thanks

clear frame policy means exactly that so they would be killed off prior to comencing your delivery or you could i dare say end up on a conduct issue

I would agree with axeman dead letters should be killed off prior to commencement of delivery.

We are instructed to do them before delivery - however, we can on the instruction or agreement of the Manager on that day, if particularly busy endorse them as Kill Offs to do and either do them after delivery or the next day. But you must get a Managers permission as yes it can be deemed as wilful delay.

This is an example of how pathetic things have become at RM
Willful delay of a letter that has nowhere to go......
In our office all dead letters are stuffed into a pouch and sent back to the MC at the end of each week.
So I would be fired for not storing a dead letter on a different shelf in our office.
You couldn't make it up.

absurd even considering disciplinary action for what is an administrative task . . letter shows in hanwriting 'gone away left in 2006 etc' so clearly it has been delivered !! We are delaying the opening of a unwanted capital one card letter and then burning of same or returning letter to sender, incurring delivery costs back to sender who cannot be arsed to update their records and process is repeated. Personally i'd be tempted to shred at office level and let the fekkers continue to pay for letters to people who don't exist, easy money.

I think that companies who have a returns policy pay an extra premium for us to return dead mail.steviemac wrote:absurd even considering disciplinary action for what is an administrative task . . letter shows in hanwriting 'gone away left in 2006 etc' so clearly it has been delivered !! I wouldn't think so otherwise all those DSA companies would end up paying us a premium.dvbuk55 wrote:I think that companies who have a returns policy pay an extra premium for us to return dead mail.steviemac wrote:absurd even considering disciplinary action for what is an administrative task . . letter shows in hanwriting 'gone away left in 2006 etc' so clearly it has been delivered !! I agree, wish the Doms had this common sense approach. The deads should be done when time constaints allow, not holding up the job when 9 or 10 bags of mail are waiting to be delivered by that person. Unfortunatly most Doms will use this to conduct somebody who they dont like then turn a blind eye when its a favourite doing it. Another example of the inconsistent approach by RM Doms. There is no wonder most of the goodwill has gone. The Doms are alienating a lot of very good delivery people, when they would get a much more productive workforce if they worked with us. Ramming the flexibility agreement down the workforces throat at every opportunity is not the way forward. Personally I am much more accomodating to a friendly Dom with a common sense approach rather than a dictator who is on an ego power trip cos he is boss. I just love themsteviemac wrote:absurd even considering disciplinary action for what is an administrative task . . letter shows in hanwriting 'gone away left in 2006 etc' so clearly it has been delivered !!
