Lost a Special Delivery yesterday.
I filled out a p739 card and posted through customers door as he was out.

I later slipped on my duty, fell and my pouch fell open. I am sure I picked up what fell out, as I checked and double checked the ground before continuing.

When it came to pouching off, I noticed I no longer had the letter :mad

Told my line manager this morning and he said I may have put through door by mistake.
Upon thinking back...........I may have. I was going on to my next bundle and had d2ds as well.
when I knocked the guys door this morning, there was no reply :cry

Really worried about this one. Not just because of my stupidity, but incase it was found elsewhere by someone else. Thats not fair on the customer.

I would imagine that you probably have delivered it by accident, I've done it as have many others especially with bloody d2ds flapping about.

I know of a chap who picked up a couple of bags of specials from a business on SA and drove off with them on the roof, lost the lot,got a bollocking but is still with Royal Mail.

Good practical advice from all who have contributed, but there again and in the current climate of Royal Mail's zero tolerance and coming down heavy on individuals who have transgressed, the DOM may if he or she sees fit milk it for all that it's worth.

I know its late but you did the best thing by telling your line manager. You cannot get sacked for making a mistake. You owned up to your credit and that MUST have been taken into account by your line manager and DOM.
