Use of Agency/Casual Staff

Post by pinstripe »

Does anyone know if there is a limit to the amount of hours, days, weeks etc that RM (or any employer) can employ casuals for? We have had the same casuals working 5/6 days a weeks for months now.
in my opinion it is disgusting that RM are allowed to use people like this, the casuals' terms (and while I do not know for a fact, but I can assume) are far worse than ours, no sick pay or holidays, definitely no bonus, and less pay! All for the same work that a 25hr part timer would be doing. Our DOM thinks :left: (ok, his boss thinks) it is more cost effective to pay casuals than pay us to do o/t.

AFAIK casual staff have to be offered a permanent contract after they have been
employed continuously for 12 months.
