GEO ROUTE THE FACTS

Post by spilie »

i have read all the threads on geo route and i feel very confused and was wondering if any union rep on here can clear it up for me in simple english.
1. What speed do we insist on in our review?
2. What call percentage do we insist on?
3. What other things are to be taken into consideration to achieve the duty time?
Although i am asking these questions i cannot believe that a UNION that is supposed to look after the interests of all its members is even considering allowing its members to negotiate this at local levels! This should be a National agreement and the lack of any direction and support in offices is an outrage that only strenghtens my belief that we have rolled over once again. The silence from Union HQ is deafening and is only adding to the rock bottom morale that is felt on the office floor.

Hello Mate
There is no national agreement on Geo Route as far as i know and i have also read on here that it is conference policy that no branches get involved in geo route. Why so many have is a mystery to me :cry What i will say to you is that offices that have used it have lost walks and ended up in a right mess  .If you have not gone in to it yet then DONT.Go through the I/R framework and do not proceed any futher untill we have a national agreement.

thanks johnnyp but how do we stop it? we are being told like it or lump it your getting it, do we just refuse to do it? rep seems a bit clueless so any info on what rights we have would be appreciated and any examples of other offices who have rejected it and the outcomes would help strengthen our case, thanks again johnnyp for your reply but dont you think we could all do with a national statement and some real help from our employees the UNION EXEC

Get on to your Area rep and tell him whats going on,get your local rep to get a stage 1 disagreement in and that the Status Quo must remain untill talks between the CWU and management at local, area and Divisonal level reach a settlement,if you can not get them to back down then you may need to resort to other actions to defend yourselves. We do not have geo route in London but its coming and without a national agreement we will not get involved in it and will end up in a dispute of some sort i guess if management try to force it upon us.

In fairness we did actually have an increase in duties, though there is still some a little put out that we didn't have a repick - that however will be rectified with the advent of park and loop - the repick will take place in 7 weeks time just after christmas.

Talk about muddying the waters. Maybe I'm odd ,but slag off branches for going down the peggy route whilst issuing "the Final Training download".Confused thinking? Or cake, yum yum, cake.

Conference agrees that the current attendance call rate allowance contained within the Pegasus/Geo-route delivery revision tool of 1.7% is both outdated and unrealistic. It is further agreed that the 1.7% attendance call rate bears no relation to the current make up of delivery traffic handled by our members in delivery offices and does not accurately reflect the increase in the “Special Delivery”, “Signed For” and packet traffic volumes.

Conference, therefore instructs the Postal Executive to negotiate and agree with the employer an attendance call rate that more accurately reflects the current traffic profiles and/or a mechanism/procedure to accurately assess attendance call rates for proposed delivery routes devised by the Pegasus/Geo-route system.

The Postal Executive is instructed accordingly.

I'm sorry johnnyp, I didn't see this until today. there was an extra 3 duties put in when georoute first came about, 1 full 2 part - however that was about 8/9 months ago and since then park and loop has emerged and we lost 7 bulk duties in total all full time - not strictly true of course because although we lost the duties we still have the personnel - I've no idea where the savings are supposed to be.

Cant find anything else in the conference agenda booklet for postal conference.

A fact to consider is that RM dont want a national aggrement on pegasus and I reckon its because the settings that CWU would want would mean some office having the revision re done and have duties put back in due to a more generous/realistic criteria.

Pegasus has been in 2 weeks in my office, 3 deliveries going over 3.5 hours rest are fine. Some further equlasation might be needed but could be difficult without spltting up streets onto more than one delivery.
