we are advised by the cwu to do the job properly, and not use cars.
when i tried to do this at my office i met with hostile resistant by drivers. Although the 318 for my rota duty clearly stated return to office by various drivers, i was told to `catch a bus`when these drivers where challenged infront of the line manager he supported them.
am i fighting a lost cause??

i hope you're not fighting alone, why not ask what exactly is prohibiting the drivers in question, from performing their duties.
Duties are to be planed using RM equipment in RM time.

Hopefully not. This is a direct hangover from Job and Finish and until most people realise that finishing early is history and in the long run its better to finish on time and "work safely" we will always have this kind of situation.

If the drivers are too busy they only way they can get the duty trimmed down is by doing everything by their 318 (if you still have them) or doing as directed by a manager. If this means they cannot complete, as long as they follow the guidelines and don't give in in to pressure when advising they cannot complete, then their duty must be looked at and replanned or reduced. Therefore strangely in the long run they would be better taking you.
