It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Did you see that memo POL sent to everyone - apparently 73% is just over half!!
When I went to school 73% was nearly three quarters - no wonder POL going down the pan if managers can't count!

Sorry Squeaky, I can't let you have that one so easily - I think that you will find that the memo implied that just over half of those eligible to vote, voted yes. I think there was about a 75% turn-out of those who could vote, which would suggest that there are just over 5000 members eligible to have a vote, so 2740 is just over half! Although the maths are not obvious, I do believe them to be correct! Clearly the POL gist was to show that a 73% Yes vote only amounted to half the people eligible to vote, not that only half of those who voted, voted Yes. In any case it makes no difference, because a majority vote wins out, and if the ones who didn't vote really cared about the outcome they should have exercised their right to be heard, and maybe the majority may have been smaller, or may have been bigger. If the missing 25% had voted Yes it would have been a resounding 80%, if they had vote No it wouldn't have changed the outcome.
