Doesn't sound right to me and i'm not happy about it one bit.

Yes it is allowed, to be honest it's quite a common scenario, who knows better then your former rep about what goes on in your office, Rm will always use that to there advantagePicket wrote:Advice please. i've recently taken over as unit rep of our delivery office. my predecessor, who went into become a manager, is coming back next week as acting manager (all be it for one day) and then he's back in uniform from then on until needed to cover managers.

of course ! - oldest trick in the book to neutralize people and they'd be only too keen to cross that line to the other side - just like the dumpers , the drunks , the lame and the lazyrockytony67 wrote:Yes it is allowed, to be honest it's quite a common scenario, who knows better then your former rep about what goes on in your office, Rm will always use that to there advantagePicket wrote:Advice please. i've recently taken over as unit rep of our delivery office. my predecessor, who went into become a manager, is coming back next week as acting manager (all be it for one day) and then he's back in uniform from then on until needed to cover managers.

Exactly! Just because someone goes over to Management. It doesn't mean that they are selling out. Just because they are a former Union Rep, it shouldn't exclude them from becoming Managers.baldrick wrote:We had an ex-National Executive Committee UPW/CWU member who got voted off the NEC and then became a
Admin Manager at my MC. He used to take training sessions with our members who said he always used the
training sessions as an opportunity to slag off the local Reps and the CWU.
We had one other CWU Rep who after he was unsucessfull in getting elected to Area Rep,
went over to Management and was rapidly promoted to Shift Manager, but was subsequently moved to another office.
And one person who stood for Political Officer just to go on the CWU IT training course (and get the expenses)
before going over to Management.
But it must be said that the vast majority of Reps and Branch Officers do it because they want to do the best
for the members, and do not sell out.
No, I'm serious. A minority of Managers, take the job, to try to improve things for all. Even fewer of them manage to do so. But there are some. Mine for example, is even acknowledged by our Union Reps, as having done a great deal for us. Yet there are other Managers at the same site, who have endless run ins with the Union. It all depends on your intentions, and your strength of Mind. Some make it. Many others fall by the wayside, or become Managers for the wrong reasons.BELIAL wrote:![]()

I can understand why. As I said: very few manage to stick to their principles. Frankly, I can count the ones I've come across who have, on the fingers of one hand. But as he will be put under emense pressure to "tow the Management line". It's (in my opinion) in everyone's interests to give him a chance. Because it will make it easier for him to resist that pressure.linkinpark wrote:Respect to you and your local members, youve got lucky But i will NEVER trust someone who changes sides!
