Can anyone explain this to me, a simple postie. I work for RM 5 days a week, 8 hours a day from 0600 - 1400.
I know this and my manager knows this, so why do I have to see him if I am going to be over my time or if I am cutting off?
As far as I am aware I am working until 1400 UNLESS my manager asks me if I wish to work ot in order to complete my round. It should be up to the manager to come up to me and ask or come up to me and find out how much I will be leaving behind. They know it's busy as do we. If I worked in Tescos or AL's asda then I would work my 8 hour shift and that would be it UNLESS I was asked to work OT. I don't see why it has to be us that goes to the manager and in some cases says apologetically that we will be late back & then ffs we are sometimes challenged by the manager that we could really do it quicker and have less OT. It is f*cking pathetic that RM wants us to approach them for OT. NO! NO! NO! Let them f*cking ask us and if we want to help our poor stressed out managers then go for it otherwise tell them to f*ck off!!!

Sad, so sad but in this RM environment the managers are under more pressure than us and use anything and anybody to get their offices cleared. Xmas will be fun

There are many postmen/women who feel it is their place to tell a Manager what they are leaving in, when in fact it is up to a Manager to decide what is left in and what is taken. Why is that?, well it is a decision which is open ended - he says leave x amount in and you finish early, that is his fault, he says take y amount and you have to bring it back because you are over your time, that is his fault because you are merely carrying out an instruction.
Too many posties take on the mantle of responsibility for which they are NOT paid - decision making is a management responsibility for which they are paid and for which they receive a handsome bonus.
You HAVE to see your manager if you feel that you 'Will not be able to complete your delivery' then it is up to him to make a decision.
Either things gets streamed,he takes stuff of you,he lets you have docket,ect ect.
This is part of the delivery process,if you don't see him and you cut off,you could be in trouble.
See him,tell him,let him decide.

If I worked in any other company then it would be up to the manager to ask me if I want to work OT. Why should it be different at Royal Fail? The manager can see how busy it is so surely they can get off of their fat a*ses and come and ask.
I am not being unreasonable. I just think that we should come in to do our set hours only unless asked. There is nothing difficult about it. It works elsewhere so why should we make the managers jobs even easier by going cap in hand to say you will be late and then get challenged and feel pressurised. I dont get paid enough to make those decisions and since they do then they should manage the office.

and tell us we will take this or take that or sort to our time
so why should it be different on busy days
