Christmas overtime

Post by guswood »

Can anyone please tell me if Christmas overtime is compulsery this year?
There is a rumour going around our office that it is a national agreement
that we have to do overtime during Christmas pressure.
I for one don't want to do any and just want to work my normal
hours and cut off .

Christmas overtime

Tell them to shove it up their a****, all you have to do is the hours you're paid for (they insist on it the rest of the year).

Lots of these rumours going around this year but I'll not be working 1 minute over my time this Christmas :mad they can work it out whatever way they want but come 40 hours I'm finished for the week.

Christmas overtime

It is quite possible that you will be informed that there is "pre scheduled overtime" - this is a pre agreed amount per office that is generously given by the overlords to relieve the constant pressure to meet budgets. This is broken up and allocated by day over the Christmas pressure period, on the basis of what the DOM thinks might be a busy day (as if they know lol ).

It is usually paid at SA rate but like all overtime it is not compulsory no matter what you are told.

This Christmas I expect all of RM'S workforce and walk reduction plans to turn round and bite them on the arse - we are not pieces of machinery and the limits to which we can work without pain and discomfort must be recognised and should not be consistently argued with.

Our part timers are usually offered a move to full time over the Christmas pressure period which releases the full timers who prep their walks to go on the IPS, but as the whole office has changed round since many of them were last on it - I can't see that being much help.

As usual the delivery staff will be blamed for every thing that goes wrong this year - but WE all know where the blame lies don't we ?
We wish to serve - but we will not be servile

I have't done Xmas SA or OT since the Way Forward.
It's not worth it for what they pay now - less than your normal hourly rate.
And I feel a lot better, and can enjoy my time off withou feeling knackered.

Christmas overtime

during christmas presure all prescheduled o/t is or has in the past been paid at the enhanced ( laughable, since billy and dave have sucessfully negotiated or consulted on and i'm not sure which one applies, a 0% increase to S/A on at least 1 occasion) rate.
The performance of O/T or for that matter S/A is voluntary and it matters not a jot what time of the year it is. Chritmas, Easter, my birthday, second Tuesday in March.
Confused... You won't be, after the next episode of. SOAP
