Sick Line

I've got a problem with someone in my DO.

They are off sick at the moment and are covered by a doctors line but RM are refusing to believe the doctor and have stopped their pay, the local union has said that it is up to the person to get a doctors report to prove that they are ill (but these cost £20 and because they're not being paid they can't afford it).

Any help from the union would be helpful, in particular a copy of the procedures that have been agreed between the union and managment.

bit arrogant - thought the RM policy was that all absences are treated as genuine - it also means that RM can try and catch people out - but it doesn't mean they can make assumptions - it's one way of getting people back bullying people back to work as they don't want to go through that hassle ?

I've been through worse with a security firm - just mentioned H&S , those idiots soon backed off , it didn't even occur to them that someone would call their bluff

I had to get one of those, a couple of years back. Ironically, it was because I wanted to return to my normal Duty, and ATOS were draggin their feet. But I was given the money back, the same day. I see no reason why your Collegue wouldn't be able to get the money back, as soon as he/she hands the report in. I'm sure that you, or one of your Collegues can lend him/her the £20, till it's given back by the Manager.

I was asked to come back to work whilst still on a sick note from the docs, I contacted the union and their view was it was better to be back at work than sitting at home doing nowt, guess what? I told both of them (rm & cwu) if the doc says i,m not fit to work end of story.
