The CWU wishes all of its members a very special Eid Mubarak.

Today sees the end of the holy month of Ramadan, where Muslims from around the world have been fasting from dawn to dusk for practically the whole of September.

It takes great dedication and discipline and we congratulate all people who followed the fast.

Three days of celebrations will now follow and this period is known as Eid ul-Fitr.

Men, women and children will pay respects to their loved ones and it is a time for families to meet and for gifts to be given (particularly for the young family members).

National Equality Officer Linda Roy states “this is a very important religious period for Muslims around the world and on behalf of the CWU I wish all Muslims a happy Eid (Eid Mubarak). This is just one area which demonstrates how rich in diversity our society is and employers up and down the country are recognising this by ensuring those Muslims who need time off for prayers, or time off to celebrate Eid are accommodated accordingly”.
