My wage slip tells me, amongst other bits of bad news, that the weekly subs are £2-70. Armed with a wage slip, RM ID & my CWU card I actually took a trip to 150, The Broadway, SW19 today at about 1100hrs. I explained to the two receptionists that I was a Unit Delivery Rep, was totally gutted about lack of support at branch & divisional level & that I wished to speak to someone from Bob Gibson's office. I expected to be told that 'No appointment - no deal' but persisted & refused to leave the building unless spoken to by a CWU official. After 15mins of polite but firm negotiating I was rewarded by under 5 mins of the time of a Martin Ackerman in the main reception area. He said that due to the imminent Northampton meeting everyone at HQ was busy & at meetings. I was briefly listened to but the bottom line is ..... that I was told to submit a report on paper addressed to him & he would consider my problem & reservations about branch backing. I was not offered the use of an office, a PC or a copying machine. Some form of 'ripple' effect I assume will come down to my branch ..... but lugging a mass of paperwork on a train was a complete waste of time. There is something basically wrong with our Union's set up & the support & backing that Reps receive. I will never give up 'The fight' ..... but you sure do get good days ..... & bad ones. Anyone else tried to penetrate the Holy of Holies?

Sorry ..... I have probably posted this in an inappropriate place ..... has not exactly been my day & I am totally p*ssed off!

Well done and that is the first time i have ever heard of direct action against H/Q If ever i could award or praise someone for persistance and dogged detirmination and fortitued you are a man worthy of all!.

Thanks for your kind words K979 but I failed dismally. For now!

I e-mailed Dave Ward in the early hours of this morning asking for the advice & support that we should all be getting & hinting for a breath of fresh air to be blown through my branch if not the CWU as a whole.

Do us a favour. Anyone reading this. E-mail Dave Ward or any contact or name that you might have at Union HQ & ask why a Unit Delivery Rep was turned away, at 11am ish on Tuesday 30th June from OUR H.Q. & treated like a nuisance! It is OUR Union! It is up to us to act if we consider change is necessary. I am not an anarchist BUT nor am I willing to sit back and be treated like a mushroom.
