Numberless houses

Don't you just hate them? It's ok when your on a terraced street, but I've had my first day on a rural round yesterday (having had 3 days training six weeks ago and never done it on my own before)and when I got out there there's properties with a's b's c's and d's all over the place, then you get several houses not showing a number it all gets a bit confusing and time consuming

It makes me want to take a bit of chalk out and scrawl the number on the doors!!!! Moan over, feel better now

Makes me laugh people spend 100's of £1,000's on their houses but can't seem to stick the door number/house name up. Perhaps RM should supply every house with self adhesive numbers

This subject about numberless and also nameless houses was bought up about a year ago in are papers. The emergency services were finding it difficult to aswell.Don't people realise that the extra time taken to locate their address can result in a death? Because the ambulance had to drive up and down ( Anywhere Lane looking for Primrose Cottage) It's all well and good having local knowledge but sad if you havn't.
Should be compulsory to have number or name at front of all properties.Not a little sign half a mile down a driveway saying Primrose Cottage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've got flats on mine, one block are a,b,c,d from basement to top floor, next door is reverse and the next is 1,2,3,4. Some are abc's with the ground floor as the house number! Luckily I've been on it for 4 years so I know, but whoever does it on my day off has to try and memorize the notes in the walk-log.

How about this. I have 2 streets on my duty where some houses don't have a front door. None have a back garden but all have a front garden and all the houses are intermeshed what this means in effect is that when I do these 2 streets although I am walking down one road but I am delivering to 2 streets twice.

This what I mean 1 Castle Road, 3 Castle Road, 1 Castle Terrace, 5 Castle Road, 7 Castle Terrace (Not real names) very confusing when prepping and delivering if you don't know my duty.

Think it has to do with house prices for no13's being lower than the rest of the street.

wouldn't bother me but i guess if you are buying a new build and have a load of new houses to choose from you wouldn't go for it.
Also the amount of older houses that are numbered 13 but have taken the 13 off and given themselves a name instead is quite high round our way too.

I noticed they complain if you make a mistake as well, even you point it out to them there is no number on the door.

Yes, they are the worst for complaining!!!

Today I had a letter for 28, my next letter was 26, which I stupidly assumed was the next house (I'm new to the round) but no the next house was 26a - but they didn't have a number up!! (obviously if I'd had something for 26a there would've been no problem).

Yep you tend to find it’s the people with no number or anything that moan the most, ffs get a number and you wouldn’t have a problem

I deliver to rural parts and you tend not to get street signs, and some are even covered up by the overgrowth!

Oh dear

I love it when they put both the house number and the road name on a little plaque, it's a nice little reassurance when you're delivering on a new round.
