I have been off work for three weeks with an ongoing illness and am covered by the DDA. This is my first absence in over two years and its probably about five years since I was off this long. I am covered by a doctors line for a few more weeks but this morning recieved a special delivery letter inviting me in for an interview next Monday. I dont feel up to making the 8 mile trip into work so where do I stand. Is this a contractual requirement? Should I just ignore the letter? Any advice appreciated.

If you don't go for their little interview they will stop your pay and the union will go along with it because they've no balls.

If you can afford the hit in wages (as soon as your pay stops get yourself down to the DSS and tell them what happened, they should be able to provide some money) tell them you will only attend an interview whenever you GP tells you that fit for it, this will all be brought out in an IT.

Tell them you want to attend but are not well enough to make the journey and would it be unresonable to ask them to come to you?

Yeah and if you do go they will tell you that you are cured and can do `light duties`as they know better than your doctor/specialist.

I agree with disgruntledpostie the union won`t help you as `Royal Mail are a caring employer.`
