pouching off allowance

who qualifies for this
our office seems duped into thinking it does not exist
union rep says hed look into it still waiting
we all pouch off on street everyone
how does it work
i finish del 5 miles from office 2 buses away from DO
but finish at local po about 1/2 mile to 1 mile from home
can i insist on finishing at DO to sign off duty or can managment insist on finishing on street.
also meal breaks do we take them 20 mins at end of shift (to fit in with DOMS NEW DEL PLAN)
going to 4 hr del span told we had no option saves f/time jobs ha ha
union rep seems to agree with this i still insisted 31/2 span still applied for h/ s reasons or can that be dropped when it suits management as well
there going to make us walk 4 hrs constant and under peg will prob be longer
anyone got any answers please help
feeling we bit frustrated maybe need visit docs again( bp AND STRESS )

I myself have never heard of this,but if it does exist then someone on this site will know.Guys at my place pouch off at the nearest post office to there walk or put the pouch in a pillar box ,most of us though return to the office as we all have H.C.Trolleys.I dont think there is anything stopping you from returning to the d.o. after you have completed your walk to be honest as you can then return your 739 items to the office.Your meal break can be spilt if you wish 20mins before you go out and 20 mins at the end,or you can take your full meal break before you go out.Do NOT go over a 3.5 hour delivery span as per national agreement,if your DOM trys to do this get your Area Rep involved quickly.Keep the faith mate.

I have heard of it and its a local form but the your area rep should be able to sort something.

I think the way it works is that you get paid per 1/10th mile from the last point on your duty to the nearest PO but you can only claim it if you have to travel back past the DO to get home.

For example if your DO is in the town centre and your round is on the east side of the delivery area, but your home is on the South side, then you can claim. If however, your home is in the same area as you deliver then you cannot claim the allowance.

I don't know all the ins and outs about it but I will be meeting with my rep in Manchester on Monday so will ask him for details.

If you pouch of you should claim for pouching of allowance its 75 pence per mile per day so if you finish 3 miles from office it works out around about £11 per week. It used to be called crows flight, there are numerous members in offices who get it but its not a well known allowance, many members were able to get it backdated to sdd which was quite a bit of cash. Very interesting, 80% of our office pouch off, funny we never heard about this allowance.
I shall rasie it when i return to work and see where we get, prob a brick wall but u can only try cant you.
