whats the last official delivery span agreement?

Hi all, 3.5 hr is what we've been led to believe is the max del span of a walk. But under this 'flexibilty' which seems to allow RM anything they want! - is the 3.5 rule dead?

2 new duties are to be brought into our office both 4hr walks but the 2 personel will have a van! they'll have to do something called 'piggy back' where they keep moving the van beyond they other. Is this alright now? what were the original reasons for the 3.5 hr agreed del span? whats to stop RM from giving 5 or 6 hr as long as you have a van?

the last post i put on here was near the end of last year after the Union had buckled and accepted the current agreement. Having experienced this year just a small taste of what RM want to do i'm suprised there are any agreements that hold any substance any longer - don't get me wrong i see nothing wrong with RM wanting the payed hours worked but it seems harder and harder to stop them from going beyond whats acceptable.

At the moment its still 3.5 hours. But in our place they are looking to add 40 mins to town walks!! I would say when the machines doing most of the sorting we will have to do more outside work, who knows what is going to happen. Will try and think positive.

Yes with the flexibility agreement we do have to do things we didnt before BUT the 3.5hr delivery span of 1st to last letter still applies. Until it is agreed at national level dont agree to spans above this.

maybe wrong here but i'm sure the 3.5 hr rule was a health and safety rule for non motorised duties

hence why royal mail are so keen to get vans or motorised trolleys then they can become like rurals
they can then get us to work our full hours!!
so without inward sorting -duties could be 5-6hrs delivery and would also qualify as part time jobs!!

Their is one way to screw this up (The piggy backing) go back to the the office take your break at a different time from each other!. And dont forget the emergency toilet break to return to the office!. NO TWO PEOPLE GO AT THE SAME TIME TO DO EVERYTHING DO THEY!.
