And there I was thinking this site had a whole new ethos of getting along and non-derogatory comments... ahh well, when you've not much to say, some little irrelevant snidey comment might fill the gap....

Union rep? No, not for me.
It's another one of those jobs where no matter how many facts and figures you show people, there's still always some loud-mouth no-nothing who'll stand up and say " you don't know what yer on about". I feel almost sorry for Ward and co.
Dog Bait's right about something though; it was a useless dinosaur of a union when it was the UCW, and it's a crap toothless "let's worry about the plight of the Ukrainian posties" union now.
Unfortunately it's all we've got.... for now.

Anybody who thinks they have been insulted on here and is bothered by it please use the icon please. The 2nd one in this picture !
Also yet another thread is degenerating into another bout of playground name calling and sly digs.
rockytony67 - please don't call people liars without proof.
Dog bait - don't call or intimate that people are idiots, if you want respect then give it out as well. If they make snide comments don't react to it use the report icon as described above please.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The procedure for starting an election is easy.
1. Join the Union.
2. If the old rep does not want to be a rep any more he retires.
3. You contact the Branch Secretary and put your self up for election. You may need to write an election address,
4. If all the rules and requirements are followed, (no I don't know what they are but the Branch Sec will) a secret ballot will be held.
5. Results declared.
6. New rep appointed - you.
However, as a rep you may be required to support various agreements and Union policies that you may not be in full agreement with. I strongly suggest you join the Union and then read up on what the implications are. One thing you don't want to do is become a rep and then have to resign and leave your members in limbo, because you disagree with a Union Policy and the CWU then deselect you.

You don't need to deselect them, Ward was up for election recently, you could have stood against him, obviously you would have to join the union first.dog bait wrote:thankyou very much for the answer tbt .it does sound alittle bit more complex than i imagined, but well worth the effort.
dont much like th sound of the deselection though, surely if the majorite of workers in a certain place want you to represent them then that should be good enough...could we not then deselect the muppets at the top, that would make most of us happy
