Pegasus : what speeds are used or abused?

hi,

currently working as a CWU member in line with Pegasus

the first proposal from management doesn't add up

, hence my involvement since

however, the speeds used are still very up in the air!

i belive their is a speed 1 & speed 2, sadly struggling at present to find out what both are

well i've got what they say they used but nothing else to compare

can anyone assist

Our rep was on a training course 2 weeks ago. the data he has told us so far is -

Walking speed 4mph

Residential delivery points 85%

Business delivery points 100%

7 seconds to post items through letterbox.

He was also told that as well as distance between delivery points being measured, things like inclines, gravel paths, low level letterboxes and any dead walking to pick up additional bags of mail must be taken into consideration.

Not sure how strictly RM managers will stick to this if it means having to put walks back in to an office.

walk speed sounds much the same, any info on HCT, cycle, dead time speed on cycle ect?

I went on a course recently.

walking speed 3.85 mph on estate roads.
different for paths to houses.
7 secs for terraced houses and nine for others.
There is an equation to set call rates per area PE settled with 88%. 100% for business.
Attendance calls ie signatures and packets are based at 1.7% of total number of calls per round.
Terraine is also a big thing---steps, hills etc

If it's a set speed of anywhere approaching 4mph then i'm afraid you'll be working your as* off just trying to finish on time we must resist this onslaught by royal fail's most loyal obiedient servants the dum dim's. i for one don't intend to speed up i'm just going to go head to head with them. not one to keel over at the slightest mention of geo-route ...test ,test, test i have never given in to any of them and i ain't going to start now.
just where is our beloved union on this they should be giving guidence to reps and the word should be ever present in the workplace

Pegasus is bullshit...theres so many variables (strong winds, piss breaks, customer enquiries, age/fitness etc) a computer program cant decide how long a walk takes.

The question is, if pegasus say a walk should take X amount of time what happens if you cant do it...can you get done for it?

How fast am I walking?

Count your steps for one minute, then estimate: 110-120 steps/minute: ~3.0 mph 125-135 steps/minute: ~4.0 mph 145-150 steps/minute: > ~4.5 mph

(~40 steps in 20 secs.) (~45 steps in 20 secs.) (~50 steps in 20 secs.)

thx for the replies so far

got some info today and confirm speeds of old & new used in our region of CB/PE

Speed 1 being the old which is not to be used & out of the frame

Speed 2 being the new & should be used speed

before i go on we revealed today the manager working on Pegasus in our office had used the old speeds, not the new!

we are now re-doing it all with the correct speeds

SPEED 1 not to be used

foot: 6.44 = 4mph
cycle: 8.46 = 5.25mph
HCT: 6.05 = 3.75mph

SPEED 2

foot: 6.19 = 3.84mph
cycle: 8.10 = 5.03mph
HCT: 5.82 = 3.61mph

their are also speeds for travel out/in & deadhead. no change on foot & HCT.

Cycle travel: 17.50 = 10.87mph
Cycle deadhead: 13.66 = 8.48mph

pickaname, when we move into phase 3&4 performance issues come into play.

so everyone must make sure the revised walks are all workable in the time given.

But everyone has different fitness levels, young and older, and hills etc, crossing roads etc, all that must be taken into consideration. I say 3mph is fast enough when all else took into account.
