POAL
Has anyone heard any further updates on POAL ? HR told me about discussions taking place, our manager seems clueless apart from he won’t allow anyone to book the 6th week for 2026/27 holidays unless your length of service entitles you to 6 weeks.
Seems discussions between company and union on any topic take a fecking eternity to sort out

Re: POAL
Answer is no. I'm sure there'll be an announcement from RM and CWU when a way forward is identified. Neither RM nor CWU can sanction something that would potentially break the NLW rules.hero22 wrote: ↑25 Jan 2026, 09:29Has anyone heard any further updates on POAL ? Re: POAL
This was a response from HR 0n 06/01/2026
Thanks for getting back to us.
You can still apply for any POAL you want via your manager but it wont show on your 2026/2027 leave card as the Business and Unions are currently in discussions on a way forward for this.
Our intention is to be able to update further in the coming weeks.
Hoping this helps with your enquiry

Re: POAL
Sure it would be easy to add something to pay slips that did the maths:
Basic hr wage
Minus, ( - )
Min wage,
Times, ( x )
Contracted hr's,
Equals ( = ) available money to spend on salary sacrifice.
For someone on 35 hrs they need around £15 per week for 2 extra weeks under POAL

Re: POAL
I've had a better, much simpler idea, although it's a bit controversial, how about giving the new contracts a pay rise eh ?N|M wrote: ↑25 Jan 2026, 19:56Sure it would be easy to add something to pay slips that did the maths:

Incidentally for someone on the initial under 5 years service the deduction to uplift 4.5 weeks up to 6 is 3% weekly just goes to show how close our new contract pay is to min wage

Re: POAL
How can it be challenged if POAL takes an employee below the MWW there's nothing RM can do about it, apart from give everyone a pay rise and we all know that's never going to happen.
