No, the key doesn't really have any metal parts to it anymore, so there's nothing to snap ?
Also the batteries don't last very long, as the workshop use 20p batteries.

Not had the metal bit snap, but have had the plastic assembly fall to pieces loads of times.

Is this the modern equivalent of breaking a pouch box key? At least you don't have to wait four months for Romec to fix it.

Happened to me twice, both times when turning the ignition. Got told was using too much force. Got a new key after the second time (first time workshop done a repair :d'oh! )

Probably down to the constant switching on/switching off of the van's ignition, on a busy day I must now do that over 200 times a day. Compare that to an average car and it's probably switched less than 10 times a day on average.

Yep, say maybe more than 300 on rurals now you have to take the key out even to take 1-2 steps to the box.

We have a few vans you can remove the key once you've started it (or just use a teaspoon) plus the trimble wires have worked loose

It used to be a regular occurance on the older vans back in the day, the workshop just used to braze a large washer on to the top of the key :Very Happy

Open it up and look if you're planning on replacing it yourself as you'd have to do that anyway

I wouldn't attempt it as if you damaged the key then nobody will thank you for trying to replace the battery.
