Royal Mail's plans to remove a postbox in Saxmundham have been opposed by the council and homeowners.
Plans were submitted by the Royal Mail to East Suffolk Council on November 21 to remove the postbox in Gromford Lane, Snape.
The proposal faced opposition by nearby homeowners and Snape Parish Council.
Responding to the application, one local said: "This postbox provides a much needed means of communication for those who rely on the post to pay bills, contact services or simply remain in contact with family and friends.
"The removal of the postbox will severely limit their communication channels and can only increase isolation.
"Elderly residents will feel the impact the most as many can’t simply walk to the next nearest postbox as this is up a steep hill that is simply too much for them.
"The removal of this postbox is simply wrong."
Snape Parish Council stated that the removal of the postbox would result in the loss of a community asset and appealed its accessibility to be improved.
