For my friend who was an ex postie ,he suffered some outlandish tatics by RM mangement whilst he was a postie with varying rules and regulations that always seemed to change to suit the RM management.
Anyone else suffered any bully boy tatics at the hands of a DOM?...If so hopefully here is a chance to vent your spleen and share your experience.
I will kick off with:
My friend was a postie,he started with a friend at the same time couple of years ago approx..
One day ex posties friend was given a round to do that he,d never done before. He didnt complain and a full timer helped him with sequencing the round so that he could get through it without problems.
However he went to the location and found it somewhat confusing and was walking around for hours to complete the walk.
He left the office that morning at 8 (good old days) and went to the walk.He finished at half past three ,nearly three hours over the contracted hours(four a day) he was on.Anyways this guy completes all of the round.
Next day he approaches manager to infrom that he wanted a couple of hours OT docket for the additional time he worked the day previous.
Manager refused outright and this was his reason why...He told him that yesterday some mail was found on the street that was alledgedly left by this postie( NOT TRUE AT ALL)on the walk he did.Rather than suspending the postie he offered him not to book the OT and they would say no more about it!!!!
Perfectly true , any one else got one as bad as that?...

This is disguisting, when incidents like this happens posties should write it down in a diary. To tell the truth I would go and see your area union rep and tell him/her that your manager is trying to constructively suspend you, who else as he done it to? This type of thing needs to stop.discoinferno wrote:For my friend who was an ex postie ,he suffered some outlandish tatics by RM mangement whilst he was a postie with varying rules and regulations that always seemed to change to suit the RM management.

This was over six months ago.My friends friend left the company based on thier actions...
My friend was an ex postie he told me of incidents that included him one day about to leave the office one day when one of his superiors came out to the car park and started putting large mail sort magazines into his pouch bags and car boot saying they had to be taken that day when there was a couple of days on the items to allow for delivery and full timers were leaving thiers behind so they didnt compromise the weight of thier bags...
again perfectly true..............
or how about .................................my ex postie friend was going out on loan to another D/OFF whow were short staffed. It didnt matter to my ex postie mate because the office he was on loan to was closer to his home anyway and he was going through the process of getting a transfer .His original boss at the other Doff told him his transfer was to be complete as soon as he filled my friends job back at that office.
My ex postie mate went online and saw his job advertised on the internet at 30 hours a week....
My ex postie mate was on 21 hours...disgusting and true.

First question is who encourages this "culture" ? , you'll get this sort of thing , initially junior managers are scared by Area & Senior Mgt but the old hands get wise and cynical and learn how to play them which results in places thriving on their own varying levels of corruption . Hence this army of poorly trained and led bullying rogue mangers with their "deals " , no doubt the "witnesses " are the pet strike breakers , docket boys and asslickers ?mailsort6 wrote:This is disguisting, when incidents like this happens posties should write it down in a diary. These supervisors will never win Who wants to be a Millionaire but they can plot and try to be cute .
RM is a backward organization , it's like going back to the at best amoral 80's & 90's spiv era .That manager sounds like a right bullying s***bag ,the only language those people understand is a tribunal for withheld wages , that'd wipe that cocky grin off his face .
However there must be orders from on high to create a culture of fear and the hope that people would be ground down enough not to threaten their little systems . The legal beagle sounds if he's making a name for himself going for a big scalp like RM . What comes around , goes around ; couldn't happen to nicer people .
Ironically RM blame the union for all this confrontation when they've got aggressive people who'd start a row in a empty house . Worst of the old school RM and the worst of the corporate "utopia ".
Everything must be serialized in diary form otherwise RM will get managers to swear blind prison officer style otherwise -if these floor supervisors are too thick and arrogant to think somebody won't do it , that's their problem !
Senior Management are cocky too , they say someone has to prove RM constructed and think their solicitors will get them off the hook in ET's but their arrogance CAN be their Achilles Heel .
MURDERERS. Need to dispose of a body? Simply parcel it up and post it to yourself via DHL. You will never see it again.

This is an interesting topic.
My son joined Royal Mail back last October and his progress has been interesting.
He is on his second trial period and as his father and rep i have had to sit in on meetings with the DOM.
He is presented with a list of misdemeanour's which as they grow i have become suspicious.
Whilst we were on our holiday we dropped into the office to see what we were on next week and there was two half full perslops of mail on his frame.
He swears that he has no idea where the mail came from and since talking to another lad in the office he said that when he started someone would pull his mail out of his slot and shove it in another one so he would miss it.
The missus and i came back from our duties the other day and there were packets on his frame, a few were dodgy in size and maybe should not have been thrown out , but he was the only one with packets thrown back.
I tackled the DOM about this and he denied any knowledge, later he said that the Line Manager had thrown them out and maybe everyone else had thrown theirs out again which was just Bullshit.
Now deeply suspicious and looking at his other misdemeanour's it looks like someone has an agenda .
When i find who is doing this it will not be pretty.

To say it is suspicious is an understatement. From what I can surmise, you are obviously a decent rep and this is the only way RM can get at you. You must be doing something right! Sounds like an agenda to me, you should make sure that his lino confirms (in front of witnesses) that his frame is clear before he goes on delivery. RM will stoop so low that they no longer surprise me.bedfordrl wrote:This is an interesting topic.
