This week's CWU Live: Labour MP talking Trade Unions, Parliament and more

Post by ted_e_bear »

Dear Members,

This week on CWU Live we’ll be joined by Chris Webb MP (no not me!) who is a long standing and proud member of the CWU and a passionate advocate and representative of working people in Westminster.

We'll be live at 5pm tonight to chat with Chris about the importance of having trade unionists in Parliament, what it means to him as a CWU member, and how his father’s role as CWU Regional Secretary has shaped his values.

We’ll also explore the challenges he’s faced in Parliament, his humanitarian work through the CWU, and discuss pressing issues like the Winter Fuel Allowance - and what needs to change.

Join us at 5pm for a wide-ranging conversation you won’t want to miss.

Foolishly I thought they would have had something to tell us that we might have been more interested to hear about

No no no

We need news about our money, not the government

How useless are they?

I can see a call to HR to cancel next week.

The CWU seem to have well and truly lost the plot, where we're all waiting for an update following the new IDS Board meeting they decide to hold a discussion about something nobody really cares about.

This Governments and CWU legacy will be green lighting the sale so easily to a Billionaire. It will end in tears but Labour will be voted out and the upper crust will be happily retired. I give the workforce 5 Years maximum.

The same Labour party where a gov't minister went on the BBC on Thursday night saying that the vast majority of the Channel illegals are women and kids fleeing war and persecution?
These people give lying MP's a bad name, so not trustworthy to actually do anything other than attempt to prolong their miserable careers in Parliament.

Sadly that was Darren Jones the MP who gave ST & co such a hard time when he fronted the PC into RM, he's now gone down a bit in my estimation!

Yes, very sad to see that all the evidence gathered by Darren Jones was for nothing. If ever an MP knew the state of affairs at Royal Mail. Has he shredded the paperwork as well as shedding his skin. A snake indeed.

Darren is in the cabinet now so subject to collective responsibility. You'd need to find a backbencher willing to take on a cause amongst all the other causes abound in the current year. The CWU should be collating all that evidence but they're far more concerned with lining the road with palm fronds for DK. And despite all the articles resposted in the News subforum the press aren't particularly bothered either.

Something could be done to avert disaster, but everyone would much prefer the satisfaction of gloating after the fact about how they foresaw it all. Enjoy the ride. It'll make good material for a book.
The machine stops.
