10 hour shifts

I'm here to find out if anybody on here already does a 10 hour shift within their office.
Our proposal on the table is 10 hours shifts, 4 days on. Extended walks to 4 hours.
Only 26 duties.

Johnnypick's Unit does that and I think he has posted details here and there over the whole site.

Our walks are already over 4 hours and no sign of Pegasus!!

I'm totally against it. 4 hours on delivery is far too long plus who want to work til 4pm on a Saturday. Please give me back my life.
The only positive is the long weekends every 3 weeks.

I think 4 days on and 4 days off would be good, though we dont wanna be walking 4 hours, i agree, but to get 10 hour shift i think we would have to accept the fact we would have to be on the beat longer.
I think it would give us a good lifestyle, gives us 4 days of to look 4ward to.

Only thing i would want is the 4 days together and not apart. , thats another matter.

Delivery span is 3.5hours - if people keep on accepting these 10hours shifts then RM will consider it accpetable and would probably force through measures to get everyone doing it..
Whilst it might sound good on paper I personally wouldn't want to do 10hour days with 4 hours on delivery - I would need 4 days to recover and then I would be back in work.

Theres a very good reason for 3.5 hour delivery span, it's based on research and considers H+S . The cumulative effects of walking at pace carrying weight are severe. Some may believe they are capable of exceeding these guidelines ,ask yourself how you might be feeling in 6months, 12, 24 ,after that probably irrelevant

How bloody right you are mate. What these numptys have not taken in to account is this will be the first year we will be delivering in the full heat of the day. Lets see how they feel after a few weeks of that. The thing that really gets me is all this f***ing about with walk times etc- is the very thing that got an overwelming vote to strike and now people are going head over heals to take it on. It makes me want to puke. To all those who think 4hour walks are a great idea ask yourself this. When we took strike action to stop all this and then stand there open armed waiting to embrace it why do the powers to be think we are prats?.

Seen these continental shifts done in another service , Management will find 8hr shifts too restrictive and inflexible , there's Senior Managers that don't like 3hr 30 spans . Thin end of the wedge ?

Basically it's more work , less duties & staff end of !, I worked in the Security Industry , I was once told "You CANgo home after 14 hrs" , they expected you to be at their beck and call .

lads do you honestly think the delivery span will remain at 3.5hrs in the future some of you need to wake up if u want full time jobs the span will have to be extended i have been to meetings where this is already being discussed.

3.5 hours is enough to be walking with a bag over our shoulder!!they will cuts jobs.

I get home after over 4 hours delivering physically & mentally exhausted.

In the future why don't RM employ athletes?
