MY NATIONAL ELECTION LIST

You will all have got your ballot papers today for the Postal Executive Council Elections. .

Below are the people who I will be voting for in The National Elections. My votes are not based on who voted for this, that or the other. My votes are based on my knowledge of the candidates coupled with who I think will step up to the plate when it matters as we try to defend our pensions in 2008. Hope this may interest some of you

I WILL BE VOTING FOR

NOEL McCLEAN
Noel is an excellent PEC member who will give advice to anyone at anytime. Like all of the people I vote for he is prepared to travel all over the UK and will get involved in all businessed. Last year Noel stood for the position of National Organising secretary and just missed out mainly because the postal side of the Union had too many candidates due to below standard candidates refusing to back out :) On the positive side the organising sections loss is most definately the Industrial sections gain

CARL MADEN
Much like Noel, Carl will travel all over the Uk at the drop of a hat. As an ex Area Processing Rep he has excellent knowledge of Mail Centre workings but he is also not afraid to get his hands dirty in Parcelforce, Customer services and POL. Carl dispells the myth that London based reps do not travel outside of the capital and sets a fine example to others

PHIL BROWNE
Phil is the longest serving member of the current PEC and more often than not gets the most votes of all candidates. this shows he is on most branches lists and this shows that he is well respected right across the UK

John Farnan is on my list because of his abilities, experience and most of all he is not afraid to say unpopular thing if they mean protecting CWU members.

Joe has an excellent knowledge of Royal Mail and the Unions rules and regulation. An excellent source of info and advice!!

PETE KEENLYSIDE
How many other PEC members supply a monthly report???!!! This shows that Pete believes he is accountable to the membership and that he hasn't forgotten where he came from. These are valuable qualities for a national Official. Pete is another rep willing to attend meetings anywhere at short notice

Make my own mind up too. Does seem a bit funny that they are all keen to inform the voters of their lofty ideals but, apart from an obvious exception ,fail to mention their voting record concerning the "most bitter","most crucial" most important" industrial dispute in recent history.
So far I'm casting one vote,and I'm not an SWP fan ,but until I get more information, don't see how I can make any more informed choices

Its a shame that i had not read this article first or I would have voted for all of them.
In the end I voted for the two I knew voted against and all of the new candidates.
Looking forward to the day I vote against Ward and Hayes.

Thanks for that, comes to something when you've got to rely on an outside source to find out about the clear and transparent democratic workings of the union. So it will be the four + new ones for me
