Hi All!

Post by NotSoHappyFeet »

Recently joined as a p/t permanent postie.

The advice, tips, and warnings on this and the Reddit forum were spot on, and have helped a lot. Big thanks to the experienced posties sharing their insights.

Colleagues are great and I love being out and about, although I'll likely still be staring at the frames and trying to figure out what is where for quite some time yet - LOL :Very Happy

Only problems are sore feet at the end of a round (hence the username; said to get better after a few weeks) and the "postman pat" song looping in my head a lot of the time while delivering.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Hey bud

I’m supposed to be starting Tuesday (Monday online induction).

How long have you been in the role if you don’t mind me asking?

The sorting and the frames are my biggest fear, I’m hoping we’ll be out quite quickly because it’s the part of the job I’m looking forward to the most (famous last words I guess 😂 ).

Been in a role a couple of weeks. Sorting and frames aren't that bad, it's just the frame sequences are laid out in a particular way as you're supposed to follow them. More experienced posties often bundle the letters slightly differently to be more efficient.

As another newbie, you're unlikely to have your own set frame / "duty". Apparently that can take months or even years. Likely also to have your "changeover" soon, too, which is where you are assessed driving a van (i.e. to deliver parcels).

Good luck with RM; am interested to know how you get on.
