POSTMANS OWN CAR DAMAGED WHILE IN DELIVERY OFFICE CARPARK
HELP! advice needed, when on a driving duty it is usual practice to park own car in parking space reserved for duty royal mail van, this prevents vans just being parked anywhere and blocking in vehicles, etc. while on duty, own car was hit by royal mail lorry which was not witnessed and driver did not inform anyone. Due to damage being quite high on car, plus some red paint visible on damaged area it was obvious it was one of 2 lorries from mail centre that caused this, neither of these drivers would admit it was them. DOM just says it is nothing to do with him and damage is down to your own car insurance, with a £250 excess plus effect on no claims bonus, any positive advice would be welcomed

sorry to hear about your car but if your office is anything like ours, you wont get any settlement from management.
We are not allowed to use p.o compound for that very same reason all i would say is if there are no notices to tell you not to park in the compound r.m may have to stump up its worth while getting advice from a legal advice centre if pos

Contact the police and see if they will take it as a hit and run, it might work and it might notbarkingdog wrote:HELP! advice needed, when on a driving duty it is usual practice to park own car in parking space reserved for duty royal mail van, this prevents vans just being parked anywhere and blocking in vehicles, etc. while on duty, own car was hit by royal mail lorry which was not witnessed and driver did not inform anyone. 1. Contact your Insurance `free legal help line` which should be part of your Car Policy? ( or your contents/building home insurance) and ask them for advice.barkingdog wrote: DOM just says it is nothing to do with him and damage is down to your own car insurance, with a £250 excess plus effect on no claims bonus, any positive advice would be welcomed
2. They should tell you that R/M could be held negligible it is their `Car Park` and even if they have disclaimer signs up
(which I doubt) by Law, they have a legal responsibility to ensure the safe keeping of your car while on their property.
