LTB 303/24 – Royal Mail / Dimensions Uniform ‘Roadshow’ Workplace Visits 2024/25
No. 303/24

11th September 2024

Dear Colleagues,

Royal Mail / Dimensions Uniform ‘Roadshow’ Workplace Visits 2024/25

Further to LTB 088/24 (Letter To Branches), which sought to update Branches and members in terms of the ongoing developments surrounding uniform matters in Royal Mail following the rollout of the new ‘performance’ uniform range some 3 years ago.

Branches may recall that one of the developments outlined in this LTB was the intention of Royal Mail to restart the uniform Roadshow events, which were a major opportunity and avenue for direct feedback from members on new uniform items, and which played a major role in terms of the current uniform design.

Accordingly, Royal Mail have now informed the Outdoor Department that they intend to relaunch their uniform Roadshow this September, along with their uniform supplier Dimensions.

Set out below are the planned locations for these Roadshows, noting however that several dates still need to be confirmed by Royal Mail:

St Albans DO : 12th September

Luton DO 13th : September

Basingstoke DO : 3rd October

Debden DO : 11th October

Southend MPU : Date TBC

Dartford DO : Date TBC

Harrogate DO : Date TBC

Wimbledon DO : Date TBC

Bromley PDO : Date TBC

Newton Abbot : DO Date TBC

Colchester DO : Date TBC

Exeter DO: Date TBC

Croydon DO : Date TBC

Southwark & Rotherhithe : DO Date TBC

Alongside this, Representatives will recall that Royal Mail had a uniform stand at this year’s CWU Annual Conference, where a number of new prototype garments were displayed for feedback from Branch delegates. Based on this feedback, new garments, as well as alterations to existing items, are now currently in production. These planned Roadshows will further allow members to give direct feedback into these ongoing changes and the future uniform range.

From the outset, these Roadshow events have proven to be very successful and largely welcomed by members in previous years. In addition to offering details on the current uniform range and addressing particular individual questions and enquiries, they also aim to give members more information on such issues as self-ordering of uniforms, returning unwanted items or the process for orders which are over the individuals members uniform allocation.

In setting out this list of workplace visits, it can be confirmed that a number of the abovementioned locations have been nominated by CWU Reps and Royal Mail have confirmed that further consideration will be given to any additional visit requests made. Therefore, if Branches wish to request a Uniform Roadshow visit for a particular workplace, they are invited to do so by writing into the Outdoor Department.

Any enquiries to the content of this LTB or further requests for Uniform Roadshow visits to a workplace, should be directed to the Outdoor Department, reference 500, email address: Pharacz@cwu.org.

Yours sincerely,

Mark Baulch

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

In 2011 I ordered a new pair of boots and also received as a 'bonus' the new grey trousers. After an excruciating day crab-walking up every flight of stairs, I went back to my blue trousers. Nowadays, the emasculative effects of being seen alive in the clown suit permit more room.

"Roadshow" or "A tour of the south" :o? OK there's Harrogate as a nod to the rest of the country. But otherwise... hardly zig zagging the whole of the UK!

They probably just want to have tea at Bettys.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Isn't Team North everything above Junction 21 of the M25? Those Essex offices must count toward the other half of the country.
