a young lad in my dly office drew 9 spl/dly items,somehow he lost one,he asked my advice,all i could do was advise him to join the union,any help most welcome

Get the union rep to go with him and see his immediate manager at the soonest opportunity to tell them that he may have posted a SD without knowing, expect him to get a serious warning though.

one muppet signed a special himself then posted it in the wrong address customer complained postie got told not to do it again and that was thatif it had been me my bollox would have been nailed to the door as a warning to others

If he had 9 registered letters and he's a walker,the limit any walker can have is 8 i think.
So that might be something for him.

One of my work colleagues mislaid a special delivery last month! He was fairly sure that he must have posted it without a signature. As of now nothing has happened, no irate customer wanting to know where his Daniel O'Donnell concert tickets are, possibly,

Does anyone know if there is a limit to the amount of specials and recordeds we can carry if we are walk posties

Its 8 max mate according to the Lighten The Load booklet we got from H/Q a few months back.There are even limits vans should take depending on the vehicle size.

It's less if they are high value. High value items are likely to be SPOs, travel agents, banks, building societies, bailliffs - especially.

I was asking because i had 51 recorded letters because a supermarket was getting planning for changes and i guess they were informing all the people roundabout them

Sorry, but if you haven't got mr nicey nicey screw man this will probably carry two years on the record for misconduct.
It dosen't matter really how many you are supposed to have, although it might help his case-----------he lost the item.

Only 51 Recordeds thats not bad. Had 98 a few months ago because the council was knocking down a tree, and in the street i deliver to it was all multi occupancy. It was a very nice day so i sat on each wall and wrote the 739 cards out for everyone that wasnt in. Bloody shame that i couldntt finish my walk that day and had to cut off. Did manage to deliver to about 8 houses thou. This is a rather common thing in our area.

It's actually 3 high valued items (foreign currency ,banks etc.) and 5 of low valued items = total of 8 per day NO MORE!!!

Special Delivery Items
Due to the current state of deliveries and the consequential increase in time on the street for many of our members. This BOB paragraph is to remind Branches of the maximum number of special delivery items to be carried on each delivery and the procedures applicable.
All foot and cycle deliveries - 8 maximum.
Identifiable high value - 3 maximum (this does not mean 5 lower value can also be taken).
All deliveries should be risk assessed in order to protect members from potential attack where high value items are identified. In some cases this may require single items to be delivered by other means e.g. vehicle delivery.
