Failing our customers.
I am today on the end of the other stick of Royal Mail's useless service....
I am a postie who has to deal with excessive workloads and unfortunately bring back 20% of my round daily as our employer stupidly made our rounds too big to fit in within our contracted hours.....
I am also a customer and today expected a parcel ordered from Amazon, but delivered by Royal Mail. A Tracked 24 - It did not turn up. So that means it's not coming until Tuesday now....
So much for Sunday parcel deliveries and competing with our competitors....
It's just another reminder of how crap Royal Mail's service has become....
Letting down their own staff.
Letting down the businesses who send parcels through Royal Mail.
Letting down the customers of those businesses.
I have told the business not to use Royal Mail as they are totally unreliable. The sender will have to refund me the postage I paid for next day delivery or possibly have to refund the whole order as I'll likely return the item as I no longer need it.
Royal Mail is an absolute mess!

So do you think they should have us all in working Easter Sunday?
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

Probably not enough or no staff to do the Sunday deliveries. If they matter that much to you, you could always volunteer to do Sunday deliveries

Re: Failing our customers.
Was at a friends party earlier and he told how letters are left for days under the frame.
Unachievable rounds and cutting off daily.
He has been a postie for 38 years.
He said they are called in the office and PDAs are scrutinised.
Is this where we have come. I am a union rep at my office and will challenge management on this if it was the case for me.
Thankfully I have management that understand the stress we are under and take that into account.
So sad to hear these stories.
I for one would rather lose my job than see these bullies win.
Let's stand up.
Each and every office is accountable.
It is a fight in every office now.
All the unit rep need to fight fire with fire.
Stay strong

You told Amazon not to use Royal Mail, because they didn’t get a parcel to you on Easter Sunday? Not a great move discouraging businesses from using the delivery company you work for, for that.

But they go straight through the letterbox - proves they’re not even going to the addresses

Re: Failing our customers.
Were Amazon working on Easter Sunday? Never saw any vans
We get Amazon parcels nearly every day - even I see loads of vans!! Why?
Cos even they can’t cope with the pkts!

Re: Failing our customers.
I don’t think our office was delivering yesterday as it was Easter Sunday. If they had asked me to come in I would have said no. The overtime rates offer no incentive to do much additional work.

If you are talking about Easter Sunday, then it’s not classed as a bank holiday, so they can be asked to work.LouBarlow wrote: ↑01 Apr 2024, 08:08I don’t think so, but I know at least one new starter was asked to work in our office on the Sunday. I didn’t realise you could be forced to work bank holidays, even on the new contracts.

Re: Failing our customers.
Amazon do not provide a reliable Sunday delivery service even if you are a Prime customer and the site tells you you will get your parcel next day, oh no you won’t if that day is a Sunday. So we are competing with an invisible foe.
’You can't just ask customers what they want and then try to give that to them. By the time you get it built, they'll want something new.’

The Sunday wasn't a bank holiday afaik. Only Good Friday and Easter Monday are?
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Overtime, no chance.
Why would I want to earn less per hour than I do on my basic wage!
Don’t know of any other company that does this.

Re: Failing our customers.
That makes sense then. Thanks for clarifying. So if Christmas Day falls on a Sunday, that is the same?
