Royal mail pushing parcel collect
I know royal mail have been offering free collections for some time but now it seems they are offering them cheaper than dropping off.
Posted an item today and was informed it would be have been CHEAPER if I had arranged for a postie collection.
Looks like royal mail are upping their game!

It's been less to buy postage online for quite a while.

They're doing drop off points in shops now too, 'drop off +' or something, had loads put on our collection routes recently. Won't be any POs left soon.

Aren’t the PO launching a new 24 tracked no signature label in April? - it’s on the pda confirmation tileSpacePhoenix wrote: ↑23 Mar 2024, 13:16POs have started doing collections for rival firms over the last few months, think DPD might be one.

I haven't noticed that on the PDA, out of interest I'll have a look on Monday, I have noticed though on the new price list from 2nd April you can purchase tracked 24/48 regular or with signature.qwerty2 wrote: ↑23 Mar 2024, 13:31Aren’t the PO launching a new 24 tracked no signature label in April? - it’s on the pda confirmation tileSpacePhoenix wrote: ↑23 Mar 2024, 13:16POs have started doing collections for rival firms over the last few months, think DPD might be one.

Customers are already given a slot based on PDA times, we aren't told the times though.

Re: Royal mail pushing parcel collect
If they start doing that for domestic customers they are going to jeopardise their collections from businesses, who pay a lot of money for daily collections within a specific time window.
’You can't just ask customers what they want and then try to give that to them. By the time you get it built, they'll want something new.’

Re: Royal mail pushing parcel collect
I noticed that when I booked one, all well and good if you're able to do the duty in roughly the same order every day, we usually do but if the 2nd duty has the bulk of the specials then we do that one first so if there's a collection it's going to be off the ETA, or on a few occasions the lapsing gets done last so a collection on there will be way off.claretandblue wrote: ↑24 Mar 2024, 07:48Customers are already given a slot based on PDA times, we aren't told the times though.

Re: Royal mail pushing parcel collect
Good luck getting us to do collections during a 2hr window. It will just mean more mail coming back. Boo hoo. Also businesses will get wise to this and use the free option if they don’t need a later collection.
