As far as I remember we are due a 2% pay rise in April...

I don't know if Dave Ward at some point said they would try to push Royal Mail to increase this....or I am imagining this.

Just curious if there is any possibility of this 2% increasing, or was that part of what we voted for so is set in stone, and if so, when is the next pay negotiation for - April 2025?

Can’t answer your question directly but RM should be looking to increase 5that percentage for its own sake, all the major supermarkets pay minimum £12 outside London, £13 inside London plus 10-15% off groceries.

RM does not compete with that anymore and will pay the price in other ways.

Yes I understand that. Its the same as saying because inflation is 5% you are not getting a 2% pay rise this year, you are getting a pay cut. Which technicaly is correct. I was pointing out that I think your pay will be 4% more than the weeks before not 2% because of the National insurace reduction.

You're correct but the extra 2% is no different than any employee who earns over the NI threshold, I can never understand why the union agreed to just 2% for this year, either it should have been twice or even three times that figure, or not included in the last pay rise negotiations.

i know why next years was agreed at a very paltry 2%, it's because the idiots in cwu towers don't have to face their masters again for 2 years to discuss the next pay trickle, make no mistake, our 25/26 pay rise won't be concluded until nov 25 and will be still crap but will use back-dated to apr 25 lump-sum and folk will go for a 1.5% raise

You can use the above to calculate the difference in NI payments from this year to next. I'll be roughly 6 pound a week better off not taking into account the 2 percent pay rise. That's on a 30 hour contract.

I’d rather do this job than work in a supermarket. Even on the crappy new contracts.
