£400 Flexability Payments.
If and when we ever reach local agreements on this, is it pro-rata to part trimers or £400 each regardless.

I've tried to get the PT's to listen, even when they get treated like crap by the management they still don't listen and our phase 2 agreement would never have been agreed if it wasn't for PT staff hoping to get their hands on £400 (on the day after the vote 2 came in early and the first question they asked was "when are we getting the £400")linkinpark wrote:Hey brother, i am a part timer and whilst i know how it works at RM many new starters do not and people saying things like that do not help! as it seems part timers are the way RM are going would it not be better to educate them rather than look down on them and treat them like second class people? If we are members then we are all sisters and brothers together and whilst i dont have the pension or wages you have i will still stand on the line the same amount and going by my own DO longer than ANY FULL TIMER and REP on strike days! That is the problem with tarring everyone with the same brush! It is counter productive and only helps those that wish to devide us. Get your rep to hold a social and get to know YOUR part timers because they are your future and will fund YOUR PENSION even if you dont like it!disgruntledpostie1 wrote:It's pro-rata for PT's although whenever I told the PT's in my office who voted for it they didn't believe me (no real skin off my nose because it's them who lose out the most)

They will, give them time.
Just because the Part Timers you have spoken to are reacting like that, doesn't mean that they ALL think that way.disgruntledpostie1 wrote:I've tried to get the PT's to listen, even when they get treated like crap by the management they still don't listen and our phase 2 agreement would never have been agreed if it wasn't for PT staff hoping to get their hands on £400 (on the day after the vote 2 came in early and the first question they asked was "when are we getting the £400")linkinpark wrote:Hey brother, i am a part timer and whilst i know how it works at RM many new starters do not and people saying things like that do not help! as it seems part timers are the way RM are going would it not be better to educate them rather than look down on them and treat them like second class people? Back when I was on an SEC contract (in the 90's), there was a lot of people trying to get rid of us, so that they could get more overtime. As a result, a lot of us were justifiably upset. But the fact is, that whenever there was a Walkout about overtime (a regular occurance at the time), I still stood there on the Picket Line. It sounds daft, doesn't it?
The fact is: that those Strikes weren't just about SECs contracts. They were about sticking to an Agreement made between management and the CWU. They were about protecting the rights of the Staff. Eventually, the situation was resolved, without getting rid of any SECs. In fact, we ended up with Permanent Contracts.
The point I am trying to make here, is to try to explain to the doubters, that it is in their interests to help. They presumably want to keep working for RM, so they should be willing to help to protect ALL our interests. Instead, they are probably getting a lot of hassle about their views, instead of someone calmly, explaining the consequences of their actions, and how sticking together will benifit them in the long run.

why don't you try telling them that pro rata = £10 for every contracted hour or £1 for every 6 mins of their contract, or alternatively how about "i sincerley hope you do get £400 but i honestly don't believe you will but i hope i'm wrong".
disgruntledpostie1, i do appreciate where you're comming from.
despite the best will in the world you just can't tell some, they have to see it for themselves, which is unfortunate.
Some only hear what they want to hear and will keep on asking until someone tells them the answer they have been looking for.
