Redelivery

On a 739 it says we will re-deliver the item if requested.My question is does anyone know how many times we can attempt a re-delivery

.I and im sure alot of you guys have took out an item for re- delivery and the customer has not been in again

so another 739 left,do we re-deliver again for a third time or is twice enough.I have never seen any thing in black and white and my Dom thinks we should Re-deliver untill they get the item

Seems a bit much if you ask me,1 attempt should be the max and then they should collect,what if there old or cant get to the office,a tricky one

A few of the guys at my office will attempt delivery 3 times then refuse to take the item out again, don't know if there is a set amount of times. IMO we should charge for redelivery like all the other courier firms.

I agree, we should charge after 1 attempted redelivery. If our competition can do it, then so can we. I don't see why we should be forced by USO to do things for free that our competition don't have to. If TNT deliver me a parcel and I write on it an address to redirect it to, I doubt they're going to take that for free. One rule for us, another set for them..

In my callers office its a hard and fast rule only 3 attempted deliveries including the original one. After that is to the PO of their choice.

Just looked on the Parcel Force website Â£12 for a redelivery on a Saturday, Â£5.50 for a redelivery to another address, like us 50p for PO pick up and they RTS after 16 days.

I think the most annoying thing is knowing that the customer isn't going to be in even though they requested a re-delivery on a specific day. I think they are actually hoping that we would deliver it before they go to work, not knowing that we are actually attempting to deliver it shortly before they get back. And why are the packets always too small to throw up for a driver, but still take up half your pouch and weigh about 4kg?

Have you seen the latest RM guidelines they've strung together without any CWU involvement on packet delivery? You'll be lucky if it is only half the pouch they take up!

That' ll be the the 'slot' that fits on the DBF, we had a discussion about them on here a while ago. It will make it easier for the drivers who have to constantly argue about the packets they are being given, some of which I admit are way to small, but as usual RM don't live in the real world. If you have a packet which takes up most of your pouch and you have to P739 it, where do you put the next 5 bags of mail? RM's answer is you phone your driver to collect it from you, adding 20 minutes to his duty! 10 minutes to attempt delivery of a packet or 20 minutes collecting t from you, which is most efficient?

we have had no hard and fast rules on this.
the cleo list(from the online /CS phone redelivery means many people just keep organising redeliveries.
depending on the item/person they get 1 or 2 redeliveries max with me.
after that i ignore the redliliveryrequest and mark it done(or it stays on the cleo)

the classic is when folks phone the DO for redelivery and i ask what day
they say "any day as im always in"
well how did you miss the postie hen

same goes for folks who say just leave it with a neighbour.
i always get a house number as i say to them its a redelivery not
having postie walking up and down the street trying every door delivery

for me it should be 1 free redelivery and any others paid

I love the ones who phone up for a redelivery you ask them when they would like the item redelivered and they say 'I'm in at 3 o'clock'

The CLEO system is rubbish its always crashing then you get customers coming in moaning they've not received there item be it packet/surcharge/customs, it seems once the system crashes it wipes the redelivery requests for that day

We do the 3 attempts then return the item to sender as uncalled for/undeliverable, we had one guy phone me on saturday requesting we redeliver his packet in the next half hour or so, then the tosser got stroppy when i told him we couldn't

i had one guy wanted it delivered at his work in livingstone(from an edinburgh do) in the evening
