Repick blah...blah.........

Post by Darren »

Yet another repick question,

Who can authorise a re pick?
Is it an office vote that decides or at the managers discretion?
There will be major changes in our office, i think going over the 33% threshold that can trigger the resign. Can a walkholder stay on his duty (if he/she wants) even though it has changed or must it go in the pot. If you have been on your duty less than 12 months can they take you off it?
I have read the Way Forward Agreement and know that if your duty does not change then you can stay with it, but all of the above is being argued over in our office and it seems nobody, not even managers can be 100% positive.

So come on lads make it clear...

repick

Post by vigilante »

After staff approach union rep for a repick, he should state that this is what the staff wish.
This will involve all walks and rurals and other posts.
You have no right to stay on a round if a repick has been agreed and it will be done on a seniority bases.
30% change in an office should trigger it unless majority rules against it.

I'd like to know the answer to these as well, especially the if your duty has not changed thing.
In our place 80+% has changed,so it will be a resign, just interested in the above for the 20%

Thanks for the replies,
Again as clear as mud, the above reply totally goes against previous agreement which states a walkholder can stay on his duty if it has not changed, and according to your statement the office majority gives the go ahead for a repick if over 33%.

Vigilante, If you dont mind me asking, you seem quite sure of your statement,is this just another opinion or does it come with some authority behind it?

I will have to beg to differ there, under the way forward, it says, that if your duty does not change in any way it does not have to be entered into a re-pick if you have the seniority to retain that duty, unless of course you fancy a different duty.

To add further confusion if a re-sign results from a ballot of office staff is the 'grandfathered' early morning allowance still protected though duties might have changed through no fault of the walk holder? Or is it better protected if the office manager decides a re-sign is required?

JUST ADDING ANOTHER QUERY ABOUT RE-PICKS DOES CHANGING FROM A STATIC DAY OFF TO A
ROTATING DAY OFF CONSTITUTE A RE-SIGN??????

My office is having a repick but our DOM has withdrawn the night duties because the nightstaff can withdraw their duties under "The Way Forward". As I am senior to all night staff at present, will I be able to pick onto nights?

Why would you want to go onto nights if most offices are getting rid of them?

I have been told that night duties at our office will be gone in three years and as I have less than three years to retirement, it would suit me to do nights.

If RM put the walk sorting machines into each office then they will either have to be staffed at nights or push deliveries until later in the day. :shhhhh

As they would have to pay night shift allowance, (unless the CWU give that away as well) we all know which way Royal Mail will go. :lfo :cfo

You can have all the 30% vancant duties, managerial driven changes or internal office ballots for re picks you want, if duties have not changed then these must be identified prior to resign starting and the holders approached and asked if they want to take part. if they do then their duty goes in the pot , if not then it doesn't. And none of this give em a couple of days to think about it either.

Ok so just to calarify,in a re sign/pick,if your duty has not been changed then you can stay on it regardless of your seniority.
IE:The 20% in my office can stay on their duty if they wish.
