CSS Operator told to do delivery

Post by makingsounds »

CSS Operators who work all week on nights are being told that some of them will be required to do a delivery on Saturdays as staff coverage is poor on a Saturday.
Can they do this???
Machines will be shut down on Friday night and the work done elsewhere. There's no thought to the CSS Operators body clock or sleep pattern.
Is there an agreement or policy on this please?

Pretty sure there’s a law somewhere regarding time off between night and day shifts

If the machines are shut down Friday night, then they will probably be given Friday night off to do a Saturday delivery.

The only issue I can see is if they are then back on Sunday night with normal duty pattern

just because they may have been rm employees for years, how can they be expected to switch rolls?
if i was sent to a mail center i wouldn't have a clue, i would think the same if rolls reversed,
training and h&s is completely different between the 2
do they expect you to just rock up at a d/o and complete a duty? well yeah they probably do :left:

Why would that be any different to expecting someone fresh off the street to complete a delivery?
A little bit of training and off you go, on both scenarios.

What are you saying, the average postie (delivery or operator) gets anything more than minimal training?
There's enough posts on here saying just that.

MPU or MC?

Can't see the work being done elsewhere as with DTS we can't walk sequence or walk sort on an IMP/iLSM any more. Think it'll just get done to batch level at best

I wonder if this is to free up RM CSS operators in DO''s to go out on deliveries?

Also heard indoor prep work from local Do's will be done in the MC shortly, this is so posties can get straight out on deliveries with no indoor time.

They can dream on with that one. We've not got the room for that and we've also not got the staff

It’s about time the managers were sent out on delivery, might give them an insight as to where the real work is done.
