Seasonal hours and working your rest days

We've been told our seasonal hours start in September, earlier start by 24 minutes !

Question is, if you work your rest day do you end up working the 24mins for free and only get paid whatever the day is worth 7 hours or 8 hours etc

I occassionaly work my rest days, when it suits me but as far as I can see it I'd be giving them 24 minutes of my time for free.

I was going to ask tomorrow, if we have Work Time Learning

Someone also raised the question last week that if summer weeks are now 35 hours, do we only book 35 hours leave considering leave is now booked in hours. Manager didn't like this question !

Why would you be working for free when it’s your day off? All of the time worked would be on overtime, so you claim it all, including the extra 24 minutes.

I asked our manager the same question last week, he says they'll pay whatever the appropriate rate is so 24 mins more in winter/24 mins less in summer.

Question, what date is everyone starting the 39 hour week? We have been told 4th Sept?

My office 4/9 as well Which means we will revert back to 37 hours the week of Xmas makes no sense?

We also asked about working day off & annual leave.
COM says 39 hours per week for ft in the winter & 35 hours in the summer. Working day off gets to you the extra 24 min in winter & 24min less in summer.

That's just it. I count it 15 . When this first reared its ugly head it was 13 high, 13 low and 26 shoulder. Looks like that's out the window

I thought that the high season was weeks 24 - 38,
which would mean we are working 39 hour weeks from w/c 18th September and finishing w/e 23rd December.

We were told it starts on 4/9, but then the manager then went on to say that date may change ,he still waiting on confirmation....
So we shall see

I think the confusion seems to be around what Royal Mail considers resource week 1 which is the week containing 1st April (w/c 27th March 2023) against HMRC tax/payroll weeks which are 7 day periods that can start any day of the week depending on which day 6 April falls on.

According to the agreement it was 15 weeks.

1.2.2 Seasonal variation would be applied in the Delivery operation over 3 periods during the full-year cycle, as outlined below: -• Week 39 to Week 8 at 37 hours (Mid Period - approximately half the year) • Week 9 to Week 23 at 35 hours (summer period – lower workload) • Week 24 to Week 38 at 39 hours (autumn period – higher than average workload over our peak season).
