NEW WORKPLACE BRIEFING ISSUE 1 – THE FUTURE OF ROYAL MAIL

Please find attached issue one of our new CWU Reps Briefing. These are part of our overall communications strategy as a union. We will aim to produce these as regularly as possible to increase support for our representatives in the workplace.

This issue gives an update on our talks this week with Royal Mail.

Please can you ensure these reach every rep in your branch and the information is also cascaded to our members.

We ask that you share the update via every means possible.

The new attendance procedure, intended to get rid of as many of us as possible whilst improving local manager morale, means you have to go in when you are sick if you can still stand. Now they say if you have covid you should inform your manager who will organise for you to work on your own if you go in. But this is now their new world of selfishness and survival of the fittest so why get a covid test. This is pure darwinian survival of the fittest. They are saying care about no one but yourself, and after years of thinking the opposite to them, they have forced me to go in even if feeling like s**t and i will.

Expand the role of the postal worker CWU your really are out of touch in the workplace we are having that much put on us in delivery we cant do anymore work get a grip Dave Ward or let someone else take over

How, I wonder are the Reps going to persuade a member who has left the union to sign back up again. What argument could they possibly put forward ?

Mostly they get themselves into trouble or get tired of being treated like s**t by management and ask to rejoin, that's the reality of it.

The union isn't great at national level but most people aren't in it for national representation, they're looking for protection in their own office from the everyday stuff.

Being on your own with no backup in this s**t show of a business is not a clever move just to save a couple of bucks or attempt to spite Dave Ward, of course it depends if you have a decent rep/office/colleagues.

Agreed, we have a decent rep and I’ve been helped out more than once, so have others.
