flexability my arse!!
at a recent team brief we were told about a new signing on and off sheet, each day you have to put + or - when you finish,at the end of the week all the time would be added up and any +time would be paid as overtime.also questions would be asked if mail traffic was low and you were not putting a minus on your hours worked. No time would be owed to office if you were on that fabled light week that we have..(not actually seen that week as have only worked for r/m for 8 years!) has any other office had this type of sheet???Stupidly thought i was flexible when we work over our time anyway, maybe i should cut off...

Re: flexability my arse!!
Seems to me to be a scam. They will look at the signing on sheets to see which staff are making the most time each week. This will then allow your managers to give these people the extra work during the summer weeks or which duties to cut in the future. You need to get together and work to your time, do the job properly. Best of all cut off.vincenttracey wrote:at a recent team brief we were told about a new signing on and off sheet, each day you have to put + or - when you finish,at the end of the week all the time would be added up and any +time would be paid as overtime.also questions would be asked if mail traffic was low and you were not putting a minus on your hours worked. No time would be owed to office if you were on that fabled light week that we have..(not actually seen that week as have only worked for r/m for 8 years!) has any other office had this type of sheet???Stupidly thought i was flexible when we work over our time anyway, maybe i should cut off...

Get the Union on this one straight away unless there is a local agreement this is wrong. Thats called bankable hours and bankable hours is not yet agreed nationally.
Billy and Dave - do you now see what a mess we are in.

sadly i feel we only have the union to blame for offices having different agreements now. We were sold down the river over the pay deal, the union and managment couldnt reach an agreement so they passed the buck onto local reps. So now we are in the situation of working for the same company but have different agreements to my mind the union have weakend the power they had.

I know it is all too easy to "blame" someone.I am not for any minute saying that the Union should of done a better
deal.
However given the financial outlay of the pension,(850 million),the amount of members we have. They tried to protect them and tried to single out the pension issue from everything else.
Yes i know that the initial deal is similar but one thing remains. And that is the union be involved in everything.
Yes locally i know. But it is our members that are killing our reps as well as very very bad management.
Most of all, back in October Royal Mail took the union to court and won over a ballot issue.
This case,if contested, would of set a legal president that would of brought down all trade unionism not just in
the UK but in europe.
deal.
