Need some help please
I started with RM in November 2007.
Have been on too many walks to count now and im started to get really p****d off, the reason being...my start time is 9:15, from what i gather if your start time is 9:15 your walk should be prepped and basically ready to be tied up? Well no chance on my walks, i am actually coming in everyday at 8:15 to have any chance of getting out for the van at 10-1015, my walk is barely prepped, i struggle sorting all the walk because as i said im on so many walks every week im learning a new frame. The reason i need advice is, because im prepping most of the walk i haven't had any time this week to do door to doors, because of various 2nd class stuff, so i came into day and got pulled up by a manager giving me grief etc, and i said look im coming in an hr early everyday just to get the main bulk of mail sorted, how am i meant to do door 2 doors aswell. Im really at the end of my tether with the RM office im at, they dont seem to get my start time, and take it for granted that i will prep the walk, now i've got 2 massive piles of door 2 doors at my frame (last weeks and nexts weeks) and a p****d off manager. I have actually dreaded going to work this week as i just can't manage them, the guy prepping my walk does nothing, and the management dont seem to care, i was so close to just walking out today when i got pulled up infront of the boxes, but i bit my lip.
Am i likely to get sacked or whatever for not managing door 2 doors because of this? I explained to another manager yesterday and i came over understanding but another manager said to me today " i understand so and so came down on you yesterday" which is a load of rubbish because he was ok about it, now i dont know what to think, and i cant afford to lose my job.

There is no other simple answer for you other than the obvious.
Come in at 9.15, your start time. If there is any mail still left to be prepped then inform DOM.
He will probably get you to do it. Prep mail and then inform him you no longer have time to deliver
all mail. Remember to add the time of sorting out your 20% of D2D.
You will feel pressurised by the DOM no doubt but in order for you to do your job properly
you must stand up against him/her otherwise it will continue until you finally do walk out.
Good luck mate dont let them get to you. Just do everything properly and then it is up to the DOM to
make sure your bags connect with the vans.

:\
I need to be out for the van at 1015, and by 1015 im just basically finished all my main mail etc, so i dont have anytime for d2ds, considering im coming in an hr early surely the d2ds are their problem if the mail isnt sorted for me? I havent managed to do any this week but they know im angry and ive been reassured my walk will be prepped next week, am i in trouble if i leave them this week?

Where's the rep and the other full timers in all this ffs!!!
Are we living in a world now where people just don't give a f**k about others who we work with.
We've got casuals in our place, really nice guys who are s**t on big time cause they know if they kick up a stink they will be out,and i help them with advice and such as much as i can.
What a f***ing crock of s**t this job is.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Well as i said i was this close to walking out on it today, but i need the money and i feel tbh totally c**p because i dont know where i stand, or what earful im gonna get in the morning because once again i have been able to even look at the d2ds this week, i know its pathetic but ive actually lost sleep over them this week because im panicing where i can lose my job if their not done. I dont mind being moved around, aslong as my walk is basically prepped and i get shown on the frame how to tie it up in consideration of the boxes, but theres only so much i can physically do in 1hr30mins at the depot and d2ds this week is not one of them, to be honest i havent joined the union yet :\
So theres no hope in hell tomorrow im gonna take 100% of the d2ds to save my job

RM 's problem not yours but RM have never done responsibility , they hope people are daft and green enough to take it on for them , just got worse with L&C's negative "leadership style ". They only understand one language ,if people don't stand up to them ( which they don't like ) they'll put on people all the more .
All this crocodile tears stuff from Leighton about B&H , he actively encourages it .Not yet another "idea " again from RM that doesn't work in practice -idiots

Easy for you to say Thommo, but , as far as I know, if he ain't been there for a certain length of time, they can simply bin him, because that's employment law, not an RM idea. I don't think that Nov. 07 is long enough, maybe I'm wrong, I hope I am.
This guy simply wants to get on with his job as per contract, and well established firebrands like yourself simply telling his boss to feck off ( or words to that effect ) does not help our angrypostie.

lol
I know their short staffed, as far as im concerned ive done nothing wrong, if im a 915 start and my walk isnt prepped apart from come in early (an hr) which i already am, and that just makes me intime for the van what else can i do, i was told by the postie next to me it should be totally prepped, and he said even some of the d2ds should be thrown in (well if he was prepping it he would of at least done a few d2ds he said), as you said i just wanna do my join the the time frame my contract states.
What i wanna know really is, is it my problem the d2ds arent done, when im doing everything else i shouldnt really be doing, and giving them an hr of my time everyday to get their walk out. Pfff well at least its sunday day after tomorrow, at the moment im so annoyed if they sack my for it i would run out with a smile, and worry about money later

Re: lol
Is your manager not paying you if you go over your contracted hour's!. Or is it that you are unable due to commitment's that royalmail should know and were informed of when you took the job on?.angrypostie wrote:I know their short staffed, as far as im concerned ive done nothing wrong, if im a 915 start and my walk isnt prepped apart from come in early (an hr) which i already am, and that just makes me intime for the van what else can i do, i was told by the postie next to me it should be totally prepped, and he said even some of the d2ds should be thrown in (well if he was prepping it he would of at least done a few d2ds he said), as you said i just wanna do my join the the time frame my contract states.

Re: :)
Which is exactly why you need to be in a union, what a perfect example of how management operate on sitting ducks. I'm not unsympathetic to your plight ,but your first step to protect your interests is an obvious oneangrypostie wrote:Ok lets hope the rep is in tomorrow :) If im on probabtion am i in serious trouble for it, ie will i lose my job after the week from hell?
