Cutting Off?
I've been on a different delivery almost everday now. I normally do overtime and work days of if needed. By doing this I hoped I might be able to have a Saturday of on leave. As i need to catch a twelve train, to Wales where i'm spending my week of. But of course my manager said no, I work six hours a day start at 6 on sat. So surely i can cut off at half eleven, then have my break? But no i need to finish my duty, but i don't know what i'm on. Normally it changes after i start throwing in.
Advice please? I'm always covering when other people cut off.

Its obvious you are being flexible where he is not - its your own choice of whether or not to continue to be flexible, but I would say "Sorry Can't do that" occasionally so that they understand.
For the immediate problem I would suggest seeing if a mate is willing to cover part of your duty either for money or for a direct swap when they need it.

I think he is a new starter and you know how hard they pressurise them to do more than they should. Perhaps we should educate rather than denigrate.marky wrote:would like to say something positive but just by looking at your post it comes across as if you are a yes man, would say this but no i wont bother....quadeck wrote:I've been on a different delivery almost everday now. Yeh i am new, 5 months not as new as dom though. Before the last month I've always refused overtime. But I'm saving for my holiday in june. So I've been working as much as i can. 52 hours last week, if i need to there are several people who owe me a favour that will help me out. But I've told dom i will work my contracted 6 hours and he might want to sort out cover.
Hopefully i'll find out tommorow it's my day off on saturday. Thanks for all the responses. I ain't doing any overtime this week.
