Job Share
Does anyone know what the current ruling on job share is please? I'm coming up to 60 and work in delivery - I was wondering if it would be possible to share a duty or job with someone? ie Week 1) I do Monday Tuesday Wednesday Share does Thursday Friday Saturday Week 2) Share does Monday Tuesday Wednesday I do Thursday Friday Saturday an so on..... Does this happen anywhere?

Re: Job Share
I’ve heard of only a few who do this. If Your full time how about go down to part time? Would be nice to wind down at 60

Re: Job Share
This is the biggest problem we have with the part time duties. Some are on 20 hour contracts but expected to work five 4hr days.
There's no benefit to a full timer dropping to part time if they still have to commit to five days.
I'm a big fan of less days/more hours per day & a company as big as RM should be considering those options but all you hear from line managers is how it wouldn't work &, bless them, would be harder for them to manage.
The current 37 hour week should be four days of 9 hrs 15 mins. We all deserve more leisure time.

I’m not so sure. Come in later go home earlier have a smaller delivery less lapsing no in sorting or double prepping. Etcihatedogs wrote: ↑21 Apr 2023, 15:10This is the biggest problem we have with the part time duties. Some are on 20 hour contracts but expected to work five 4hr days.

Re: Job Share
It's been mentioned on other threads before and I know of one duty in our resourcing area that do it.mb1 wrote: ↑21 Apr 2023, 12:47Does anyone know what the current ruling on job share is please? Don't know if there's a 'rule' as such. In one of RM's propaganda sheets during the current dispute
they came out with some such phrase about 'Innovative duty structures' so you've got nothing
to lose by asking.
Sometimes the pushback from managers is:
1. They just can't be a**ed to sort it.
2. If there's a third person who does the day off cover what impact does it have on them?
3. If you want to drop down because you're towards the latter end of your RM career a manager
might think 'What if they say 'I've had enough' in 3 months after starting the job share?' - I'll have
a nightmare job recruiting someone for that duty now so the answer's no.
4. Manager thinks 'I'll have to find someone for that other walk now, so no' - (the one
that your other colleague vacates).
It might be worth finding a colleague who is definitely interested then present your case to the
manager so they have the least amount of thinking and paperwork to do!
