Congratulations on the successful escape and I hope you got a good deal. However, don't be a stranger on here I am sure your point of view will be more than welcomed especially when flexibility hits and you will be able to present a view of a posties and joe public.

Royal mail seem to wanna let everyone go and say to them that the job is 2 much for them now! I am in my 30's and i went to see atos doc and basically he was trying to convince me that the job is just far far to much for me now and he said he cud not see me return if i do not return within a few weeks or so he said that the date will just get longer and longer and a return looking bleak! i have only been off 4.5 months and i told him i wanna come back! Basically i think he was looking to ill health retire me or else just get me dismissed!!

Anyone else same experience of this??

ATOS job is to get staff through the door for RM , one way or other as cheaply as possible , he was playing the nice cop or giving you the gypsy's warning .It really is a form of subtle bullying in the sense that he's trying to make out he's doing you a favour but being negative / critical of you at the same time .

ATOS have orders from RM to improve absence , it's also the extended arm of RM legally as it's hard to prove who is firing whose bullets. It's Common corporate practice to avoid responsibility and litigation,however RM have to turn everything into a three part melodrama due to their poor management of these situations lacking common sense , judgement and discretion .

You could make a complaint to the General Medical Council as some staff have , only other redress is in a Tribunal , if there is grounds .

Well we need to make a stand and not allow this!!!!! i am not a happy person, that has set me back!!! i am good at my job never had any serious complaints worth talking about and here is someone who knows nout about me tells me i am struggle with the job and it is 2 much for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!sorry but im cross. :cfo

Royal Mail extends occupational health contract with Atos Healthcare

Royal Mail has extended its occupational health (OH) and welfare services contract with Atos Healthcare for another three years.

Atos Healthcare has been delivering OH services to the organisation's 185,000 employees since 2002, where it has helped to reduce absenteeism in the Royal Mail letters business.

The new contract incorporates a risk-reward model, with Atos Healthcare being incentivised to help Royal Mail further cut staff absence.

Atos Healthcare will deliver a full range of services, including a round-the-clock employee assistance programme, sickness absence management, pre-employment screening, driver medicals, health screening, vaccinations service, and progammes to educate and inform staff about health-related issues.

Steve Boorman, director of corporate and social responsibility at Royal Mail, said: "The co-operative and collaborative way the two organisations have worked together to make improvements has been a particular success of the current contract.

"We will continue to set high targets for Atos Healthcare to remain competitive and achieve our business objectives," he added.

I agree. they want us back to work , put us on a stage then we take ill again and out we go again then thats another stage! then thats the sack! and that is how they will try get numbers down, imho.

I have worked with Postman43 as we were both union reps, he was always on the other end of the phone when i needed advice, as i was a new rep, thanks alot for all your help, sorry to see you go as i know you got plenty of people out of the sh**te
