Weekend Network 2008 (Saturday night working)

Post by weetrogg »

Planning Assumtions & Impact

Why we are making the change?

*To make mail centre despatch methods and circulation consistent with weekday

*To address Saturday quality gap

*To facilitate use of yorks and trays

*To reduce manual workload

*To advance inward international mails

Planning assumptions

*Combined 1c/2c despatch based on Fri & Sat 1c P145 data

*Despatched in yorks

*Mails to largely follow weekday 2c circulation

*Final vehicles at time of current 1c despatch

*Additional wave(s) as volume justifies over previous two hours

*Fully utilising DDT fleet

*Mail centres load assitance for outward services

*Mix of cage and yorks for pre-sort mail(still to be resolved)

*No use of planes or trains

*Mail centre arrivals Sat night/Sun morning when mail centres will be open to receive mails from the network

*Inward mails not stored at network hubs

*No sunday EMA missort hub

*No sunday afternoon despatch from NDC

Future SAWN Distribution

*Plan to schedule new SAWN following Area input and concurrence from 14th march

*We plan to use current DDT and Fleet profiles at current VOCs within paragon

*Deployment target of June 2008

I was given this document at a meeting today im a new rep and dont quite understand the implication of the proposals on the network, but i do know that this document implies that MCs will be open Sat nights instead of sunday,i asked the manage if this was the case and he confirmed it. Can you imagine doing a two ten on a saturday
