At the moment we follow Monday, then Tues, weds, thurs etc etc but once revision is finalised I'm losing the duty I am signed upto so heavens knows when my day off will be, when I was a reserve we didn't usually find out until the thurs/Fri the week before and I had to fight to get a Saturday or Monday every 3 or 4 months. Imhave several future appointments booked on what would have been my days off so will have to sort that out no doubt

We are the same. I get moved from one round to another on a regular basis. On the rota I’m put down to have that duty’s day off. This has just started happening in the 3 plus years I’ve been in the job. I know what rolling days I have off and so plan things months in advance. Golf, football, hospital appointments nights out, days out, weekends away. Now I think they are looking to change this. Not at all happy. They really know how to piss off the workforce. This week for example my day off should be Thursday. Friday is good Friday, visiting friends. Two days off lovely jubly. Now on the rota I’m off Monday  I’ve aired my displeasure and they have honoured me the Thursday. How long they will do this for is anyones guess. Can anything be done about this?
Anyone else have the same problem? If so was it resolved?

The same has just happened to me, I have a rotational day off. Last week my day off was the Saturday, on the Friday I got told I will no longer have a rotation and I’ll go to finding out my days off the week before. They told me to have the Saturday off as planned because I’d already worked my 5 days, but after that it’s gone. So they’ve let me book all my annual leave based around my days off etc, and then tell me this.

Well I won’t be standing for that. I do have a life outside of work.

Explained to the boss I have plans for my days of weeks in advance as I knew when they were going to be and needed them to follow the same pattern at least in the short term, his response was I consider it!! Well I have done the right thing and made dental appointments etc for days off thus working around my job and now I have to second guess what day I might get off with just a few days notice...it's a joke

You only get penalised for trying to 'do the right thing' while the slackers swing the lead. From now on don't even think about when you book appointments, in fact you might find that the majority from now on fall bang in the middle of your shift :chuckle

But what about pre planning leisure activities? A round of golf with mates? a night out? Theatre? Weekend away? Football? All these have to be pre planned.

We are on a 6 day rota. Monday, then Tuesday etc so a Saturday off every 6 weeks. I've done 10 yes in this job and I'm 50 now. I'm 50/50 about leaving in the next year or so anyway because the job is getting harder but if I ever go back to a reserve for any reason such as removing my duty then I'll definitely leave the company. I'll never go back to finding out my day off the following week a few days before as I've done enough of that in my early years

Exactly the situation I find myself in again now. Family who work jobs on a rota basis all say their employer has to give them 21 days notice of what their hours and days off are going to be. At least my hours are stable...for now but not knowing when our days off are going to be until a few days before is unfair and poor management
